Here’s some artwork for the @nick_r_f cover of the @tompettyofficial classic: “Wake Up Time.” Tom Petty had the following to say about writing this song and choosing to end his Wildflowers album with it…

.

“I thought it very important that we ended it on a hopeful note. You know, some of the subject matter on this album is downright dark. And I’m sure that I’ve been through those downright dark periods, but… it’s always just believing that there is something redeeming about human beings that- that’s what carries me through… you know… the toughest times.”

.

I had these words on my mind as I designed this cover. Tom wrote with the young in mind, always believing it to be vital in helping them to believe that to be realistic is to have some hope. I’d gladly trust someone who believes all that to wake me up from any dark place.
