Activating ideas through various tectonics of movement but not limited to dynamic + static + coordination + sequence +

Hello all! After much contemplation, I decided to create an account dedicated to my climbing journey!

What started out as curiosity with some friends, turned into practice that I do on a daily basis.

Often times I ponder about its relation to architecture and I’m wholeheartedly convinced that they’re intertwined with each other. From the concepts of movement, the manufacturing of the holds, the VARIOUS types of holds, routesetting, community, environment and terrain, I’m always amazed and in awe.

I hope to climb for the rest of my life. by @dynadriane

+ 360 Holds + Unparallel UP Moccs + rose move + new pants + shield + pocari sweat + da moon + patience + dimension volumes +

This was one of the many routes I got curious about but couldn’t do at the time of on-sight and there were pocket holds on an inclined angle. The composition of the holds with volumes looked really cool!

Navigating a finger partial tear takes time, but working with @climbing.rehab Dr. Miguel Zevallos has made all the difference. Built up enough strength through the last month and a half of rehab and strength training, and felt safe and capable enough to try this route after sticking to his progressive protocols and exercises. I was really interested in this route since it was mainly open hand movements with zero crimps while also relearning what my body can do and handle. Still a ways to go, but thank you lots Miguel for your help and guidance :)

Recently found these up moccs that I thought were no longer usable in my climbing shoe pile, turns out they still have some life left. These were gifted and I didn’t really want to wear them out too much. Shoe post still to come :)

I’m on EP 86 of Yugioh GX.

Doing body weight dippies on push day feels a lot more controlled now :)

I made new pants to complete my “trio”! So far I’ve made a black pair and blue pair. It’s lowkey giving Toji vibes from JJK. Now I want to make a purple/indigo pair! But then, it will no longer be a trio of pants.

+ much more care + intention + instinct + safe + JUGZ holds + confidence + foot stab kick +

Slowly but surely getting back the swing of things. And also enjoying this slow loading journey of trying to trust myself on the wall again. In a way it feels like I’m re-learning how to climb.

Up until the last few moves, I really enjoyed flowing through each hold as well as relearning what moves feel safe/un safe.

For the sake of my rehab journey and the safety of my finger, I’ve learned more and more to let go of the routes I can’t complete and moves I cannot do during that point in time. Routes come and go, in whatever capacity, I just want to climb.

Also my first time using these holds by JUGZ. Vvvv cool.

They did in fact have a taji bubble. There was this side crimp hold that I didn’t want to force crimping on so I had to let go :’)

Also a lot of other dynamic routes I had to pass on :’) taken in VITAL Climbing Gym - Lower East Side by @dynadriane

+ undercling + crossover + flag/match + side-pull/lock-off + Dark Magician + double lock-off catch + animal crackers + tolerance exploration + confidence +

7 more episodes until I’m caught up on the One Piece anime!!! Also decided to rewatch/catch-up on Yugioh GX! Im currently on S1 E55.

With all my finger rehab protocols/exercises and strength training that I’ve been through since my finger injury happened, I’m very happy that I was able to climb in some sort of capacity here at LBR.

Slowly getting back into the swing of things :)

LBR did have a taji bubble out, but it was set in a way that was outside of current progress with finger rehab journey.

Such a cool and fun gym! Hope to be back soon with more progress :) taken in Long Beach Rising by @dynadriane

+ upward momentum/hop + paddle/pull + right kick/stab + side pull/push + heel hook + grape uncrustable + power grunt + aggression + grabbing positions +

As this was(probably) my last chance/session to try and stick this paddle route I decided to try lots of different attempts. Most of which were just experiments and tests. I also paced myself throughout that session to make every single attempt count.

Up until my last four attempts, I decided to be much more aggressive. And that the moment I discovered that I can actually pull on paddle move after experimenting with some power grunts. Throughout this session I was really trying to find all my foot and hand placements. Something I didn’t really pay attention to on my previous sessions on this route.

On top of that, I was afraid of landing my right foot. Majority of my attempts from previous sessions was bailing because I was afraid of how my right leg would feel if I landed on it too fast.

To get over that fear, I needed to face it. The moment I finally landed my right leg, I grabbed the side pull with my right hand and surprisingly kept my left hand on the paddle to keep my body position more secure.

I feel like everything I learned from my last project, really helped me with this one. I even spent some attempts isolating positions to get a feel of what they might feel like the moment I land them.

I’ve been really inspired by the way Allen Iverson played basketball.

I recently got a new daily water bottle and found a use for some of my cool stickers. A climbing buddy that keeps my hydrated :)

Shoutouts to Jimbo Magadia again 🙏🏼
I started sticking the moves after he told me to “turn my brain off”.

+ upwards momentum/hop + kick + pommel + foot stab + pull + mantle + undercling compression + engage + engage + crimp + toe hook catch + positions + placements +

“Grab the position, not the hold”
-Wisdom from Jimbo Magadia.

Everything started to click during a session where I started experimenting and gauging how much I could reach the first hold without jumping. My initial thought was to jump into position but I kept missing my foot to stop my momentum.

So I tried various areas on where I placed my right foot and areas where I placed my right hand after standing up. Once I finally felt my body naturally pulling towards the right, my left hand instinctively wanted to do the pommel move and I was finally able to guide my right foot into position. Then I entered my undershoot/overshoot phase.

After I got comfortable doing the first move, the last move took a bit of tries for me to do. First few I was just focusing on grabbing the last hold then coordinating a toe hook in desperation to stick the finish. Also using that left foot hold made it really awkward to trust that I would stick the position. Eventually I got over the fear of my left foot slipping.

Shoutouts to Geo for the crimping tech 🫡

I’m on Episode 1157 of One Piece!!!! Finally made it out of Egghead T-T.

Was fortunate enough to get a super good deal on these Evolve Defys through a heavy discount thank to a homie. Main purpose was to have another “chill” climbing shoe in my shoe vault, but I ended up using them the whole session the point where I decided to also try them on this project. Also this was the only shoe that fit me that was on sale at GVJC. I’ll talk more about my journey with climbing shoes on a post instead.

One last thing, I am now in my Sudoku era. My dad taught it when I was 10yrs old, and I haven’t done any since. Once I saw an ad for it, I just suddenly remembered how to do them.

Also learned how to play mahjong recently :) taken in Method Climbing Gym by @dynadriane

+ heel + rockover + throw + heel + heel hook + heel + strawberry crustoff + pinches +

One of the many things I like to do whenever I walk into Method is admire all the new and current routes. When I saw this route, I was confident on sending it that same day. But then I tried the start and immediately lost confidence because I wasn’t sure that I could get past the start after placing my right heel. Part of me was reluctant because it made me think about the time I tweaked that knee through heavy repetitive use in one session.

After getting a little frustrated on my other projects, I decided to give this route another chance. I realized I just needed to find a position that I was more comfortable with, and the rest went that same session. I really liked the hierarchy of holds and how each of their functions connected through each move. I liked how the moves were asymmetrically repetitive: starting with my right heel, then engaging with my left heel, throwing right, then throwing left and then engaging with my left heel again but in a different way.

Before my send attempt, I decided to have a bathroom break because I usually wait until I get home. After that, I was able to piece all the moves together that night.

I had a strawberry crustoff for the first time thanks to Raph. Thank you. I enjoyed it as fuel mid session.

I’m on EP 1151 of One Piece! Besides the Wano Arc, Egghead might be my second favorite arc. I’m almost caught up!

I’ve gone through a plethora of different climbing shoes thanks to friends, second hand, the lost and found, and some I’ve bought myself throughout the years. I’ll talk about them on my next reel :)

+ adjust + adjust + adjust + adjust + adjust confidence + rest + double clutch + “plus ultra” + cheeta holds +

Took some time to figure how I wanted to arrive to the double clutch position. Generating momentum from the start initially felt awkward. I was thinking of ways I could pendulum into stepping above/after my left foot. I felt cramped and little too low to the mat. So then I thought of how much I could swing my left leg and body back with my arms straightened out. Eventually it became: drop my body low, pull just enough, let my leg guide myself to position. A balance of intuition and intention.

After that I had to coordinate not touching the mat with my leg swing and not landing on the red starting hold.

The rest felt familiar from past projects :)

Finished the latest season on Spy Family.

+ right swing + step up/over + redirect catch + reverse gaston/push/mantle(?) + rockover + heel-toe cam + yum + papoi + balance +

During this session, I was actually three days on. Usually when I have a project session, i conclude them whenever I’m at the point of exhaustion or any further attempt feels as if I won’t progress anymore during it.

Session01: more upper body/crimpy movements on steep angles.

Session02: mainly worked on the new slab set that focused on legs and balance.

Session03: much less intense, but focused more on controlled and limited attempts during this session. My main goal was just to see if I could finish my purple route pink tag project on the north wall after some rest. And it went after knowing what beta I wanted to pursue from the prior session. I still felt good with my movements and thought I would give this project an attempt after some curiosity that day.

Every attempt I just thought about giving a little more effort in order to stick some of the moves. After surprising myself with finally landing the first move, I thought the rest would go! Each attempt after the catch, I thought about how much more effort I could push/pull further. I tend to start out with (50%) as like a “testing waters” experiment to gauge the level of difficulty as well as the amount of stress I’m willing to put my body through in order to advance to the next move. If I still can’t stick the move at (100%), I just take that as a sign that I’m just not ready for it at that moment in time.

Vvv fun, learned a lot from having these back to back to back sessions. Mostly likely won’t do again. As a result, I gained more of an insight on my current strength and weaknesses.

If you’re still here, I’d like you take this moment to pause and be present. Take this moment to appreciate what’s current in your life: your family, the friends who are still around you, the things you’ve already accomplished, and the goals you’re working toward. This version of your life won’t last forever, so let yourself feel grateful for it now. :)

Also a reminder to have faith :)

Took a break from One piece.

+ upwards dyno + moon kick + catch/pause + ✨coordo ✨ + reposition + jimbo brush(again) +

Ever since I experienced jumpers knee, I’ve been a little more hesitant at attempting dynamically coordinated routes, or at least when I choose to do it in that way. I’m alright now, I just learned my lesson from spamming attempts on these kinds of routes. I don’t always feel “jumpy” each session. Very happy with this execution.

Lately I’ve been climbing every other day and a little more than usual each week. I’ve been feeling like I need more time to recover so I try my best to be careful.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done some strength training/ conditioning. All I’ve been wanting to do is climb and I feel like it hasn’t affected my performance as much. Still rethinking how I’d like to train outside of climbing. It’s just been rest + climb lately. For now, tbd while I juggle many other aspects of my life outside of the gym.

I’m up to date on Gachiakuta, That time I got reincarnated as a slime and Witch Hat Atelier.

Shoutouts to the Jimbo Magadia brush again.

Allergy season needs to end soon.

Earl grey fudge from Milk sugar love is my favorite ice cream flavor of all time.

Please excuse the shakiness of the vid, I did my best to “stabilize” it. The shakiness came from one of the portable fans at the gym.

There are groundhogs in my backyard and they just revealed that they had babies. So cute. taken in Method Climbing Gym by @dynadriane
