My dear teenagers,

One of the greatest things we should look forward to as humans is to impact the knowledge we have. But you know you can’t pour from an empty cup. You have to spend time gaining knowledge, and after you gain the knowledge you have gathered, that’s how you build a legacy that lives after you.

The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:2 that the things we have learned should be entrusted to others who will also be able to teach others. In other words, what you have received was never meant to end with you. There is always someone else who should benefit from what you have learned.

And that’s why Matthew 10:8 reminds us, “Freely you have received; freely give.”

Either you like it or not, some destinies are attached to you. That is why every decision and action you take is extremely important and not about you alone.

This dress I’m wearing was made by one of my students, and it just gave me a perfect opportunity to remind you to give knowledge freely if you’ve received or gathered it.

Learn. Grow. And when you have learned, teach someone else.

Because what you know could be the very thing someone else needs to become who God has called them to be.
