Over the past few months, this community has grown, and I realized many of you know my work, but not the person behind it. So I thought it was time to properly introduce myself.

Design has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years, it has become so much more than creating beautiful homes. It’s become a way of helping people feel more connected to the spaces they live in every day.

Every project begins with listening. Understanding how you live, what matters to you, and what you want your home to give back to you. Because I believe the most successful homes aren’t the most expensive or the most impressive, they’re the ones that quietly support your life in all the little moments that matter.

The best projects usually begin with more than a great idea. They begin with the right connection.

For me, that means working with people who want their home to reflect more than a certain look. They care about how it feels to move through the space, how it supports their routines, and how the decisions we make today will serve them for years to come.

All my projects are a reflection of that approach. From kitchens and full house renovations to smaller homes and multiplexes, each one is different because of the people, the challenges, and the way they live. That’s what makes the work personal.

Not every empty space is a problem waiting to be solved.

In interior design, negative space is just as intentional as the furniture, art, and objects around it. Giving elements enough breathing room can create better visual balance, make a room easier to move through, and allow the pieces you actually care about to stand out.

A simple way to test this at home is to look for areas where several things are competing for attention. Remove one piece, step back, and live with it for a day. You may find that the room doesn’t feel unfinished at all. It feels calmer and more considered.

A well-designed home isn’t measured by how much you can add to it, but by knowing what deserves to stay and where to stop.

Try removing one thing from a space that feels a little too busy, then come back and tell me: did you miss it, or did the room feel better without it?

Repeating design elements across multiple homes doesn’t have to make a project feel repetitive. Done thoughtfully, it can make the entire development more efficient while keeping the design cohesive and intentional.

The key is deciding what deserves to become part of that shared language. A well-resolved material palette, millwork details, and carefully selected finishes can create continuity across the project while still leaving room for individuality.

Fewer unnecessary variations can also mean fewer ordering mistakes, substitutions, and last-minute decisions during construction, leaving more attention for the details that genuinely deserve to be different.

That’s where good design and smart development strategy work together: create the right system once, then use it intentionally.

A spacious home is something you experience before you ever think about the numbers.

There’s a visual side to good space planning, but there’s also a physical one. Your eye wants somewhere to travel, your body needs comfortable pathways, and everyday belongings need places to disappear when they’re not being used. When those things work together, the home naturally feels calmer and more generous.

This is also why decisions made early in the design process matter so much. Where a doorway lands, how millwork is integrated, or even whether there’s enough breathing room around furniture can influence the experience of a room long after construction is finished.

Creating a sense of space isn’t about making everything smaller or removing everything you own. It’s about giving the things that matter enough room to work together.

A bigger design budget doesn’t automatically create a more valuable home. Where that budget goes matters far more.

On a multiplex project, repeating certain materials and details across units can create efficiencies in purchasing, installation, and construction. That can leave more room in the budget for the areas that have a greater impact on how a home is experienced.

Think about the moments buyers interact with every day. The feel of the millwork, the quality of the lighting, useful storage, or a kitchen that functions exceptionally well can influence perceived value far more than an expensive upgrade somewhere they barely notice.

That’s why thoughtful interior design is also about prioritization. The goal isn’t to make every selection premium; it’s to know where better design will be seen, felt, and appreciated.

The details that make a home truly yours are often the ones that carry a story.

The art you collect, objects from your travels, pieces passed down through family, or even something with a memory only you understand can give a space a depth that newly purchased décor rarely creates.

The key is knowing how to bring those pieces into the design intentionally. Consider their scale, colour, placement, and relationship with the materials already in the room. A meaningful object doesn’t need to perfectly match its surroundings, but it should feel like it belongs there.

That’s often what separates a beautifully decorated space from a home that feels genuinely lived in. Good design creates the foundation, but the personal layers are what make it unmistakably yours.

Aging in place is most successful when it’s considered early, not added later when needs begin to change.

It means thinking about details that aren’t necessarily obvious today: whether doorways allow comfortable movement, where controls and outlets are positioned, how easily storage can be reached, whether flooring transitions could become obstacles, and even how the layout could accommodate changing mobility in the future.

The interesting part is that these decisions rarely benefit just one stage of life. A well-planned home can be easier for children, guests, someone recovering from an injury, and eventually, for ourselves as we get older. That’s why inclusive design and beautiful design don’t need to be two separate conversations.

A home can be contemporary, warm, and beautifully detailed while quietly being prepared for what life may bring next.

Square footage only tells you how much space you have. It doesn’t tell you how well that space is working.

A thoughtfully planned 800-square-foot home can sometimes feel more comfortable than a much larger one simply because circulation, furniture placement, storage, and everyday routines were considered from the beginning.

And that’s an important distinction when renovating a smaller home. Instead of trying to squeeze something into every available corner, look for opportunities to make one area serve multiple purposes, integrate storage where it naturally belongs, and keep pathways clear. The goal is efficiency without making the home feel efficient.

When space is limited, good design isn’t measured by how much you manage to fit in. It’s measured by how effortlessly the home works once you’re living in it.

I’m excited to finally introduce one of my latest projects: a four-home multiplex designed here in Vancouver.

What made this project especially interesting was that I wasn’t simply designing four units on one property. Each home needed to respond to a different way of living, from aging in place in the garden suite to compact living in the laneway home and flexible spaces for young professionals and growing families in the duplexes.

That meant thinking carefully about how each home would function on its own, while still creating a sense of connection and consistency across the project as a whole.

For me, this is where multiplex design gets exciting. More density can still mean thoughtful, comfortable, beautifully considered homes when the people who will live there remain at the centre of every decision.

I’ll be sharing much more from this project, including the individual spaces and design decisions behind each home. Follow along as it all comes together.
