It’s difficult to admit, but I don’t think I’ve ever been in love before. But when I listen to this song, I can nearly imagine what it feels like. When I listen to D’Angelo, I’m reminded the love I desire, that soft, deeply intimate, spiritual, BLACK, love exists. And as an artist who creates music across multiples genres, I can thank those who paved the way before me and redefined what black music can sound like. I’m proud to be apart of a legacy of artists who create from the soul and I will honor those who our shaped culture for generations with every piece of art I create. Thank you D’Angelo. ❤️

Dear artist,

I know sometimes what we do feels like it has little reward and we invest so much into making our art come to life, but thinking about this song that I wrote as a mantra for myself, to remember to move with unconditional love in everything I do, made me realize how many people I’ve been able to share this song with! I remember how many people took the time to come to my show and sing about love with me, in a world that feels like it’s constantly on fire. I’m reminded that you never know who needs your art, no matter how big or small the crowd. If even at least 1 person can feel something from my art, it’s worth it!! Thank you to anyone who has ever come to a show and spread the love with me, and I can’t wait to continue this journey!❤️

What a dream come true!! I’m so grateful to everyone who has been apart of my journey!! Choosing to follow my passions and go to music school was one of the biggest decisions I had to make. There were so many times I felt inadequate or I wasn’t sure if a career in music would be worth it. I also faced racial discrimination, elitism, and heavy competitiveness while at school, which made me question if this path was right for me. But all these challenges taught me that nobody can get in the way of what is meant for me. And after 4 years of long rehearsal days, early morning auditions, random odd jobs, dozens of performances, and hours upon hours of classes & training I made it through! I’ve made some wonderful friendships and worked alongside incredibly talented musicians & artists! Most importantly, I learned to love myself and pour everything into my art. I’m proud to say I achieved my childhood dream, to graduate from music school in New York City! Thank you to my family and everyone in between for all the support because I couldn’t have done it without you❤️

Being apart of this production has been amazing so far, and the cast and team are INCREDIBLE. the unseen life of the creative.

There’s so much that goes into being an artist and the development of music that a lot of people don’t see. The late nights, the revisions, the rehearsals. Most people just see the final product, attend the show, or stream the song. I write, produce, & record my music myself and sometimes it gets overwhelming. But I’m grateful to have autonomy over my art and that I can create anything I want, whenever I want :) Here’s some clips of early ideas for my new album & rehearsal clips from my last show. Here’s a snippet of a recent audition for @boopthemusical that I am proud of! It’s definitely not perfect (rusty from spring break lol) but learning how to roll with the mistakes is one of the hardest parts of auditioning.
