The persistence of the Algerian individual on the land of pirates, as portrayed in critical philosophical discourse, reflects a state of historical and intellectual wandering that has lasted for many years, where a genuine civilizational project has been absent, replaced instead by repetitive traditions lacking a clear compass. The Algerian has lived on his land between the hammer of a past burdened by colonialism and the anvil of a present clouded by corruption and stagnation, yet, unfortunately, he has not awakened from his slumber to build his own project grounded in freedom and creativity. The philosopher Dr. Mezouar Mohammed Said, the Algerian-British thinker based in the United Kingdom, argues that this intellectual disorientation results from the absence of phenomenology in understanding the Algerian self—that is, the failure to return to the original lived experience of existence, leaving man reduced to a consumed image devoid of the will to change. This view resonates with American philosophers such as John Dewey and Ralph Waldo Emerson, who emphasized the importance of experience and individual agency in shaping a new path for humanity. Instead of remaining trapped within dead discourses, the Algerian is called upon to awaken from his slumber and reshape his consciousness on a critical and creative foundation, breaking away from repetition and intellectual laziness. Remaining without a compass is akin to sailing in an ocean of illusions, while the solution lies in reclaiming the power of questioning and looking at the self with critical awareness, so that the land of pirates becomes nothing more than a metaphor for an age of decline, paving the way for a new era of renaissance.

Dr. Mezouar Mohammed Saïd (the Algerian-British philosopher and professor of philosophy specializing in culture, education, and phenomenology) argues that the value of seeking knowledge in Islam lies in its holistic character. It is a knowledge that unites mind and spirit, theory and practice, the individual and the community. In the Islamic conception, knowledge is neither a tool for domination nor merely a means of individual salvation, but a civilizational mission and a human trust. Dr. Mezouar Mohammed Saïd therefore maintains that for the Muslim world to reclaim its historical role, it must revive a philosophy of knowledge as a “project of both spiritual and intellectual freedom,” benefiting from global experiences while remaining faithful to its Qur’anic and Prophetic foundations. by @dz.co.uk
