AGAIN, IMMORTAL. a fashion film by Axel Timothy Chee

Again, Immortal is my graduate collection comprising of 3 looks. It revolves around rebirth through the lens of religion and metamorphosis while tying it to the analogy of the Cyborg in post/transhumanism + the paradox of the ship of Theseus.

Rebirth was an especially important concept during the process of making this film/collection. The past few years has felt like countless different lives. As I embark on this new chapter of my life, I thought I should finally publish this film for everyone’s eyes.

This film (and the live performance,) was made in collaboration with Singaporean artists and talents I’m grateful to call my friends. They went above and beyond to help conjure my vision into existence.

Made a mix for @3ndlessreturn titled (Love) Letters to Home :)

Being away from Singapore and experiencing a whole different party culture in Melbourne has given me a greater appreciation for all the coming of age parties and diy raves I got to experience!!

Despite Singapore’s restrictive nature, we never stopped finding a way to shake ass. Whether it was in a clothing shop in an industrial park (RIP Spadesroom), or you were dancing with your friend”s mum at 3am in the middle of #punggol, we love to party!

It is also very fitting that my first party was from Endless Return, literally NOTHING has compared to the Steel factory rave.

This mix was inspired by those nights. With songs with bouncy beats and silly remixes, I dedicate it to all my friends back home old and new! I love and miss y’all 🥹🫶

AGAIN, IMMORTAL!
It’s been a lil over 2 weeks since Again, Immortal, and I’ve finally taken some time to process everything that’s happened, definitely the craziest thing I’ve put together.

I owe it all to my friends and family that supported me along this 3/4 month journey, so much time has been graciously given to me, not to mention the blood, sweat and tears, all to make a single day happen. Art is labour, labour is love, and love is art, so fuck AI! This is the brainchild of creatives of different disciplines coming together to create this piece of work ❤️

An abundance of thank yous to everyone, thank you to my crew who were so so patient with me throughout the process of this film/performance. They went above and beyond what was asked from them and I owe them so fucking much.

Thank you to all the friends who went out of their way to help clean the space post performance, thank you so much and I feel so bad that I didn’t do more to help.

Thank you to everyone who caught the show, I really hope y’all enjoyed it :) The kind words I’ve received will stay with me forever. Love love love
