Have never done this before as behind the camera is where I operate—what an adventure to see one’s own self afresh through the eyes of an artist. Thank you, the best @oriana_camara ♥️ and the one and only @macdowell1907 for your generosity, kindness and all kinds of gifts we will carry ahead.

🧹“Broom-ing”
Two-channel Video Installation, 3’00
Mexico and Brazil, 2026

As a continuation of Wrinkles (2023), which examines the aging of architecture, this video further investigates the symbiosis between architecture and people through the acts of maintenance. Using the camera as a spatial tool to experiment with 3D scanning, digital fabrication, and robotic plotting, it attends to the often gendered and invisible labor of upkeep not as an afterthought, but a generative, political force in the built environment.

🧹“She Crossed”
Film, 18’00
USA, 2024

Filmed and edited over four years, “She Crossed” is an intimate portrait of two migrant women building lives in a foreign land. Through daily observation of cleaning routines, the film traces the invisible borders they navigate, foregrounding tender acts of longing and companionship rooted in the unseen labor of maintenance. Award statement by the jury for ZONTA Prize, 71st Oberhausen International Short Film Festival (2025): “A portrait always tells us something about the portrayed and the one portraying. The film in question doesn’t merely portray care work, but creates a cinematic form through rhythm and observation to convey precarity, tenderness and evanescence; the gentle passion as well as aesthetic grandeur of human encounters. Through an homage to a very particular woman, it celebrates intimacy, trust and activities carried out by millions of women around the world without recognition. The protagonist’s love for plants is mirrored in the attention with which the filmmaker turns to the most ephemeral phenomena, be it a raindrop or the passing expression of a face.”

On and off for ten years I’ve been polaroiding, for all the beautiful people who have generously crossed my life. To honour that moment which was real, and we were lucky to have lived it in the first place. Thank you 💛 here’s an incomplete portrait of this summer by @dzz.daisy

A post dedicated to Friends, these insanely beautiful, creative, resilient and funny people!! I’ve been trying to write something to honour this group, but whatever comes out feels terribly inadequate. Two months. Had life-changing conversations everyday. Smelled flowers. Watched stars at 2am. Worked, not worked, being “a wizard in the woods” and danced. Ping ponged fiercely every night, swam, and kept learning to dive. Laughed out of breath, and cried A LOT. Fell asleep in peace knowing you’ll see your friends again tomorrow, and tomorrow there’s always hot breakfast. Even if you miss hot breakfast, there’s always cold breakfast. And lunch, dinner, by the most warm-hearted kitchen.

”You have all the time in the world”. Until that morning that taxi driver appeared in his usual spot, but this time you’re the one getting on. He grinned, “I know you, you were crying every time I drove your friends away.”

I’m gonna cheat a bit by quoting the wonderful @jared.denzel ‘s speech and his book title, Saudade... “This deep melancholic, emotional state of nostalgic longing for a person a place or a thing that’s absent. More than simply missing something, it’s a profound bittersweet feeling of cherishing a beloved memory while aching for a past that may never return.”

I simply cannot be more grateful. Knowing that we exist in the same world makes me happy and hopeful, and I will always pray for the very best for you all 🩷 Cannot pick all the photos I love so here are some dumps by @dzz.daisy

“Wrinkles”
Research, Film
Mexico City, Mexico
Drawing acquired by MIT Museum as permanent collection
2022

This project investigates the aging of architecture. A building is never a static object but a living being that grows - a building exchanges care. Rooted in a standard residential building in the center of Mexico City - one with 70 years of history being born, lived, earthquake-destructed, abandoned, repaired, and cared for - this project traces the reciprocal relationship between the life cycle of the building and the lives unfolding within it.

Working closely with the local residents, this project borrows the camera as a spatial tool to experiment with film language, 3D scanning, digital fabrication and robotic printing. From matters to actions, between bodies and rituals, an alternative literacy is composed that breaks the binary of before/after in architecture design. By disentangling the heavily gendered, and often invisible labor of upkeep, the project foregrounds maintenance not as an afterthought, but as a generative, political force in the built environment.

“Intimate Immensity”
Exhibition, Public Workshop
at UCCA Edge, China
In collaboration with @_yalunli_ and @feiyuec
2023

Borrowing from Gaston Bachelard’s notion of immensity—the expansive, often poetic experience that unfolds within intimate space—this exhibition examines domestic life through “consumption” as both action and condition: consuming, while also being consumed. In the wake of the pandemic, the home has absorbed multiple roles once held apart, collapsing distinctions between retreat and exposure, labor and leisure, intimacy and performance. Within this altered spatial economy, consumption permeates domestic space not only materially, but emotionally and psychologically.

Six participants from varied professions and working conditions were invited to 3D scan a fragment of their home where consumption felt most present. Point-cloud scans were translated into abstract yet faintly recognizable drawings, unrolled at a 1:1 scale along a narrow passageway. As viewers move through the space, domestic objects dissolve into traces of gesture, habits, and rituals. Rather than literal representation, the exhibition constructs an embodied encounter with how everyday acts of consumption inhabit and quietly reshape the spaces we call our very own.

“No Leftovers No Left Out”
Film, 02’34
Santiago de Compostela, Spain
2023

From superseded everyday objects to discarded building materials, our surroundings are filled with “waste”. This research questions what is left behind by standardized ways of building, and envisions alternative ways of making architecture. A serene and playful public space, designed by Ensemble Studio using leftover quarry stones and recycled CDs, highlights such materials deemed too irregular or obsolete to be useful. Through a sensual experience, it invites viewers to reconsider how value can be re-assigned in construction. Special thanks to @anton_ensamble and @debora_ensamble
