A few weeks ago I went for a jog across the Namib desert with @beyondtheultimate. Getting to race through some of the most incredible desert landscapes in Africa has ticked off a huge one on my race list. It was one of the best experiences thanks to the other runners, the BTU team of @adamkimble818 @kris_kingy @sandforddavies and @cameron_wright_outdoors for the occasional kick up the arse to keep going when it got tough in their own inimitable way. To the brilliant @globalexpeditionmedics who kept us mobile, and vaguely in one piece, and also provided some sanity and music and checkpoints. And finally to @trailbearfilms for managing to capture my fully blown melt down having overheated and decided running is a terribly bad idea in a desert. Bring on the next one.

Tomorrow I head out the Namib desert, to take on the @beyondtheultimate race. A 250km, self supporting ultra marathon. carrying all my kit, through some amazing and fairly inhospitable landscapes. For anyone who wants to watch me suffer you can track our live progress via this link

Last week I had the privilege of being invited to give the matriculation speech at the @royalaguni As a previous masters student, and our farming business currently runs the RAU farming operation, it felt a very full circle moment. Being able to welcome the new cohort of undergraduate and postgraduate students to the RAU, in its 180th year was a honour, and hopefully I managed to pass on some pearls of wisdom to them, even if it was post karaoke night during freshers week.

Milling wheat for @cotswoldflour flying off the fields today. This wheat is grown under a Regenerative standard contract for @cotswoldflour meaning we get independently audited to check that we are farming in a way that benefits the soil, water quality, biodiversity gain and still produce a commercial yield of grain.
