AI can generate words. But ghostwriting a leader’s book is about listening for what the words alone cannot tell you.

It’s noticing the story beneath the story. Asking the next thoughtful question. Learning the cadence, convictions, and lived experience that make a voice unmistakably theirs.

Then comes the sacred responsibility: shaping that story with care so the finished book sounds like the leader, not like a machine.

That is the heart of The Artistry of Story™: bringing creativity and clarity together while honoring the person behind every page.

For leaders and changemakers carrying a message that matters, the right writing partner doesn’t replace your voice. They help you hear it more clearly, and carry it further.

Your story deserves to sound like you.

A writer’s voice is more than a style. It’s the conviction, rhythm, and lived experience that only they can bring to the page.

I’m speaking at @Publishing_in_Color Fall 2026! “Secure in Your Voice: The Power Within, Revisited.”

Building on my 2024 session, writers will:
Identify the distinct markers of their voice,
Recognize where it gets lost, and
Anchor in calling rather than comparison.

We made the list! 🙌🏾
Finding God Every Day: No. 17 on ECPA’s Children’s Best Sellers List!
Co-written with @according_2luke and illustrated by @anacandraw, this 90-day devotional is by a kid, for kids. Luke’s words reaching children brings me joy. Thank you, readers! Every copy purchased is an act of faith.

Loved the book? Leave a review and help more kids find God in every day.

While writing THE MESSY MIDDLE, there were days when I sat at my desk beside a candle and the words simply would not come.

I was depleted. I was recovering. Physical therapy was part of the rhythm of my days. And the more I tried to push through, the clearer it became: I needed to stop pushing.

In the quiet, with God and the people who helped carry me, I found my way back, not by forcing the words, but by making room for rest.

The middle of a project can get messy. For leaders, writers, changemakers, mamas, aunties, and all of us holding a lot, may we remember that a pause doesn’t mean we’ve lost our way.

This is the beginning of a little series on the real texture of writing a book: the pauses, the people, and the process that carries us through.

Rest and recovery aren't rewards. They are requirements for my creativity.

The two years between writing the proposal and signing the deal have revealed some things. This one is for all of us. 🙏🏾

I’ve always wanted to be a guest lecturer or artist in residence.

Today I gave my fourth university talk and have another coming before the year ends. My dreams do come true.

Thank you @alexabigwarfe and @logankingstonofficial for a fun day of teaching and learning!

Still smiling. Now, rested. 🤍

September 2015. Wires glued to my scalp under a mummy cap, a three-day EEG recorder strapped to my chest. A year earlier, grand mal seizures had taken my speech, my movement, and my energy to create.

And still, I finished my first book, Mood Swing: 21 Days to Peace, Joy and Freedom of Mind, in that season of forced stillness.

Eleven years later, I’m back in physical therapy after a fall this month. This time, I’m doing it differently.

I don’t wait to rest until I’m finished. I rest, and then finish.

Rest and recovery aren’t rewards. They are requirements for my creativity.

And yes, I’m writing again. The Messy Middle, a 90-day devotional for tween girls, is coming Spring 2028 from @waterbrookchildrens . This time, from rest, not depletion. 🤍

To the woman in the first photo: thank you for finishing anyway. I’ll take it from here, rested.

What are your work and body asking of you right now? 👇🏾
