Fiona Aftermath

Chasing a top end WOT Misfire on the R56 Cooper S. This car's maintenance history is dubious at best and it was uncharacteristically cheap to do Coils and Plugs, so why not.
Dropped one heat range to the popular NGK 1422 plugs as well. taken in R56 by @e30von

Bike stuff.
@tstindustries integrated taillight and flasher relay
@hotbodiesracing.inc front turn signals

Disassembled and cleaned the turn signal switch as well.

[4dr progress]
Cleaned up the piston skirts, and coated with dry moly.
Rings gapped a few thou looser than stock.
Rods/pistons assembled and installed with new glyco bearings.
Drilled/tapped block for -10AN fitting, JB welded in place this time.
Cleaned the oil pump, which seems to be in decent shape.
Drilled & installed the VW chain tensioner, new chain not shown. by @e30von

Took advantage of the warm weather yesterday to paint the block (in the best colour scheme ever - definitely not just an effort to get rid of some rattle cans)
Started to mess with rods/pistons as well but didn't get too far.

M52B28 cylinder head work yesterday

Checked port match with m50 manifold
Ported intake ports
Lapped valves (cleaned them up a few days ago)
Cleaned everything
Replaced valve seals by @e30von

Yesterday's steering rack swap effort for the 4dr.
Out with the e30 rack and cleaned up the e36 rack from the purple car I parted out in 2017. I found new tie rods, lock plates, and rack spacers in my parts stash, so I just need to mod the knuckle.
Some time breaking into (read:destroying) the glovebox to remove the ECU and harness, uncovering the original colour sticker, and attacking the massively dented driver wheelwell. by @e30von

Rear of the car is in rough shape. Beyond the trunk, the rear bumper is held on by mostly sheet metal screws, with a splash of bondo.
The valence seems to have been chopped up to not block the holes of the big fiberglass bumper.
Not sure if I get a whole new one, or chop it completely and hide it with an mtech II bumper. by @e30von

This fall/winter's project is to get this thing swapped and remotely presentable.
I moved it onto the slab and started picking at it. M52 driveline and most swap parts have been waiting.
