My grandmother used to say “now, don’t go rushing getting married and having children.” I know that’s not because... she did not enjoy her husband and her children. If you had known her, you would know that she loved her husband and her children very much.

Being a wife, I see now what she meant. The Bible says that the wife cares about the things of the world (1 Corinthians 7:34) and we also know of the Proverbs 31 wife/mother who got it doneee okay baby?! Is it more challenging as a wife to prioritize God? Yes, but not impossible and to be honest the press to praise is one of the most stretching things to ever experience.

My grandmother always said, for her children, grandchildren and anyone that she would meet at that point - That all she wanted is for us to make a good life for ourselves. and to obey God. Knowing that God has a blessed life in store for each of us; farther than what we all could imagine.

She was a prophetic woman of faith on this side of glory, and I’m sure that she is now simply a daughter of the King walking the streets of Gold with her Father.

Grandma sacrificed many of her own self made or inflicted desires to be a great wife, to be a loving mother, and a servant in her church and in the entire community (without any sorority influence... no shade). She was a phenomenal basketball player in high school. And desired to be a nurse, not knowing that she’d been called to be a nurse to her children and that “alone” would impact so many, including my own.

I hear a lot of people talk about being prepared for marriage, or for children. Some of us have idolized being so ready for these beautiful yet temporary seasons of lifelong relationship that we miss the whole generational plot fr. And I say “we” because this used to struggle with the wrestle of this truth also.

Truth is, the concept of life just being “me and my little family” or “oh when I get married, you ain’t finna hear from me after while” is not as wise or accurate as some may assume. The Bible talks about ministry starting* at home and then spreading a broad.

In other words earthly marriage is not the end goal even in this life. And if you’re single yet spending so much time focusing on what you want your marriage and your family to look like I’m afraid you’ve been bamboozled. Being prepared and ready for the call of God on your life concerning family is not an issue, yet it could be one if you miss the fact that He’s called you even in this season for such a time as this to steward well what you already have in your hand!

Single? Ask God to show you what you do have in your hand that He wants you to practice stewarding well. Whether that’s waking up every morning @4AM for prayer, or eating God’s food and not American food, or even forgiving your ex for real (not like “oh if I see him in the street it’s gonna be problems” but forgive fr).

For all of us regardless of the season or call each blessing and gift is given to ultimately be passed onto the next generation of believers (in our own household and the people who may find your music/products/social media pages).

To steward well is beyond the $ that you have in the bank. Deliverance is not only so you can love your future spouse and family well. Our lives purpose is to obey/follow Jesus and lead others with our real life pursuit of Him in all areas that they too may come to Christ (and remain) till He returns.

As a child I rarely felt beautiful or confident in my “own identity” as simply a daughter (of my mother even)

Looking at my (daughters) children and seeing them as oh so beautiful forced me to see myself as beautiful

And to fight for the traumatic lies which said otherwise to be silenced!

My husband was the first man to tell me “You are so beautiful”.

as his first view of me.

And possibly the first one to declare, speak, proclaim that over our daughters (children) also!

(Every girl needs a Father yo)
and mine is ultimately God!

Having children, specifically daughters so far has revealed to me that how their Father, my Husband, sees me and them, that the

Lord has seen me even more so all along!

In Him is my confidence and while making it through days of (newborn) diapers, toddler training pants, healthy meal prep, maintaining a clean environment for my family to enjoy, even in my confidence were rooted in my mere self

aside from being a daughter of God 1st, I have nothing to offer for my Husband or children that would be sustaining!

By His Grace and endurance, the will and truth of God be the foundation of my household and my delivering over my family as a mother!

“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:”

Not your typical grocery store run but Glory to Jesus!

My family has been pulling on The Lord for provision and His word stands true. My God does not lie nor does He come late yet He is timely.

Seek first The Kingdom & He will add everything needed to you (Matthew 6:33). Do Not Worry! Please take it from me & did, worry that is, until I crashed out 😬

But you can really just trust God to Be God and He will! Move out of His way & relinquish all your cares onto The only one who can handle it all!

With no family vehicle, yet, 2 part time jobs, 2 kids, a home to steward, dreams to steward, eachother*** to steward - The Lord has provided for my Husband I since the very beginning BEFORE the children. All that we are abs gave belongs to The Lord. And I will NOT be silent about that.

If He would do it for us, and He has, He WILL do it for you! This is only the beginning.

It feels scary to Dream (Big).

Almost 3 years ago I prayed a prayer - that my children would never beg for bread.

To this day, they’ve never went without (and won’t). Rice and beans was (definitely) on repeat last week (for breakfast, lunch & dinner), but not without.

“Lord, please don’t let us be struggling artists. We have a family.” I prayed

Last month we faced eviction, with journals full of prayers and dreams. Today, we still have a roof over our heads (not* evicted!)

January passed, our car was repossessed. Still yet we’ve gotten everywhere we needed to go.

I’ve leaned to be content in every season - Philippians 4:10-20.

And to get everyday be a day to bless The Lord.

“Bless the LORD,
O my soul;
And all that is within me,
bless His holy name.”
Psalms 103:1 NKJV

(note :

I only share this because I believe someone else is in the other side of their device looking on these apps & thinking they’re the only one who doesn’t feel like they’ve got anything “perfect” to share so they don’t.

For the one who is struggling with comparison right now and has assumed that everyone’s grass is greener than yours, it’s not. The Bible even says that God looks at the heart of man rather than outward appearance (1 Samuel 16:7) which means a lot of what we see and even share is not real! Or, rather it’s not most important.

To whoever you are, brotha or sister, please be encouraged! I’m praying that your heart is renewed with gratitude for what you DO have today.

Thank The Lord for at least 3 blessings today! I bet you can go on and on after just 3, and if not just mediate on 1. The Father 2. The Son 3. The Holy Spirit till there’s room for nothing else.

Whether it’s washing dishes, changing diapers, doing mini twists, or counting to 20 and saying ABCs for the 15th time in one day, being a mother requires patience, love, and ultimately Jesus!

I love the life I get to live, truly. Regardless of the day’s task or challenge or joy even, without The Lord it would be utterly meaningless. Idk about anyone else but I’m in desperate need of Him.

Worship is one of the ways I get through the day in without ending it on empty. How great is it that God grant power and strength from the worship we release to His courts.
