4 years of my sweet wild girl. 🌿🦁✨ Spunky, spirited, fiercely loving, and just the right amount of spicy. I remember asking Universe to teach me more patience ... AND WONT SHE DO IT cause B came into this world with her own flame—and somehow the biggest, softest heart. She’ll bang on us one minute by attempting an arm bar and crawl into our arms in a Frozen dress the next. 😂❤️

Watching Benni grow is one of the greatest privileges of my life. My only wish as her mama is that she continues to stay rooted in who she is, wild in her spirit, soft in her heart, and unafraid to take up space in this world.

Iggy transitioned last week. Life moves on, but I haven’t. The lesson he left me and my family has been the experience of what it truly means to be human—to feel two opposing emotions so deeply at the same time. With heartbreak and grief, follows the relief of knowing his spirit is free and the gratitude for the unconditional love he’s given us. Today is my 3rd Mother’s Day which affirmingly landed on my 33rd lap around the sun (#333, ayyye). I’m celebrating the community of mothers/mother figures everywhere, in every form, today and the 364 other days of the year because there are no days off, ever.

Being a mother is a gift and a grind, and a CHOICE of which every woman must have the right to decide — if, when, where, how.

My existence has expanded to seeing my seed become the best version of herself and serving to empower her individual growth and elevate her as a human. I’m here for her excitement to read the same book over and over again to me, even after the most exhausting days. I’m here to eat the fake play-doh pizza she’s made with a crayon and my toothbrush. In this space, I’m redefining what a mother is as I’m showing up for my daughter but most importantly myself. We cannot forget ourselves, as loving yourself is key to being the best for others. Lets celebrate all the layers of motherhood.

We are nurturing, we are sultry, we work, play and love hard. We show up, we uplift, we dance, we sing. Honoring motherhood isn’t just honoring the sacrifice but honoring the beauty and the ability to balance the complexities of life that comes with the gifts of being a mother.

A toast to all the mamas in my village and the women who continue to uplift me and raise me up as I raise my child, I salute y’all always.

Mars creates light and hope for a better future by simply existing.

What a wild year—grew and learned a lot, yet not enough. It’s hard for me to compartmentalize celebrating a huge milestone when the rest of the world is hurting. We will continue raising our daughter with intention and holding space by showing up for our friends and families, at work + communities.

It is my duty and purpose as a mother (and human) to dedicate the time, energy and space to raise a thoughtful, open, courageous loving, kind, empathetic and spiritual being. The future of humanity and our planet depends on it.
