My brother @justin.w.ayers has been doing Spartan races, and somehow he has made me part of every one of them. šŸ’—

He races in his pink shorts and even pulls out our throwback @statefortyeight Impact One shirt. Seeing him represent something that means so much to me while doing something that means so much to him is pretty special.

After his Spartan in Boise, he told me there was a point when he was completely out of breath and didn’t know if he could keep going. He said he started thinking about me and what I deal with every day. He told himself that what he was feeling in that moment was nothing compared to what I’ve had to push through and that thinking about me helped him keep going.

I don’t really see myself the way he sees me. šŸ˜‚

But knowing that my fight can give my brother a little extra strength when he needs it? That means more than he probably realizes.

Im so incredibly proud of him.

This weekend was his Spartan in Seattle. Another race. Another finish. And yes… still representing in pink.
Never ever give up.

One day I can be out trying to live life as much as possible, and the next day reality hits and reminds me that I’m still fighting.

It’s hard. Honestly, some days it’s really hard. But we all experience hard in different ways.

Today was one of those reality days.

I went over my liver biopsy with my doctor. The biopsy itself was incredibly painful and difficult because of where the lesions are tucked up underneath my ribs. That experience is probably a post for another day. TBC...

Because today, what I really want to talk about is my doctor.

Dr. O is my safe place.

There is something about her soft spoken voice that brings me comfort, even when the words she is saying aren’t the ones I want to hear. She has a way of giving me hope while still walking me through the reality of what is ahead.

And today, what is ahead isn’t what I wanted to hear.

But I’ll keep fighting. I’ll keep showing up. I’ll keep living my life on the good days and getting through the hard ones.

Cancer has a way of changing your perspective. When your health is on the line, so much of the noise around us becomes just that noise. Other people’s opinions, politics, disagreements, and things that once seemed so important suddenly don’t carry the same weight.

What matters are the people you love. The people who love you and your faith in something higher. (Sorry it is just the truth!)

And if you’re blessed enough to have someone who makes you feel safe in the middle of something that feels anything but safe.

Dr. O is that person for me. by @eacluff

I’ve been trying to find the words to say out loud…
My cancer has now spread to my liver.

Soon I will begin radiation and have a liver biopsy, which will help my doctors determine what comes next with my chemotherapy. We are also hopeful that I may be a candidate for a newer approved targeted treatment. We may not have a cure yet, but we have more and more ways to treat and manage what is considered incurable.

I won’t pretend this journey is easy. I hurt every day. The skull Mets are so hard to live with…

There are days when I feel so bad that simply pushing through takes everything I have. But somehow, I keep going.

My children have taught me so much through their own examples of perseverance, hard work and refusing to give up when life doesn’t go according to plan. They remind me to stay focused on what matters most: family, faith, hope, and staying close to God especially when life gets hard.

My faith in Jesus Christ has carried me through some of the darkest days of my life. When I think about the pain He willingly endured for ME, knowing that my earthly life would include challenges like these, I am reminded that I am never walking through this alone.

Faith doesn’t mean we aren’t scared.
Hope doesn’t mean we don’t have hard days.
And believing doesn’t mean we always understand why things happen.

Sometimes faith is simply choosing to keep going when the road in front of us is so dark we cannot see what comes next.

We cannot give up, y’all!

We have to keep believing. We have to keep hoping. We have to have faith…even on the days when that is all we can do.
I have already come so far on this journey,
and I’m not done yet. taken in Gilbert, Arizona by @eacluff

This is the kind of person Larry Fitzgerald is.

I haven't shared this story much because I never want it to sound like I’m bragging or making it into something it wasn’t. But I think it speaks to the character of a man who is so deserving of The Hall of Fame Induction .

When I was at one of the sickest points in my life, I was invited to attend an event honoring Larry. I was sitting at the table waiting for him to join us when he walked into the room. As you can imagine, people immediately surrounded him wanting to say hello, take pictures, and congratulate him.

As Larry came to the table, he leaned down, looked at me and asked, ā€œHow are you doing?ā€

He knew. He understood what I was going through. And in a room filled with people there to celebrate him, he took a moment to make sure I was okay.

That is the kind of person @larryfitzgerald is.

There are so many things people know about what Larry has done on the field and throughout our community, but I will always be especially grateful for the way he has believed in Impact One and helped give the foundation a bigger platform to serve MORE women facing breast cancer.

No one is more deserving of being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Well done, Larry. So incredibly deserved. šŸˆā¤ļø by @eacluff

She is my friend, my sister, and someone who has been by my side through everything. She takes such good care of me. We laugh, even when I don’t feel my best. We cry, even when we’re celebrating something wonderful. We are so connected that I honestly don’t know what I would do without her.

When we were roommates in college, she completely changed my taste in music. Growing up in the Washington, D.C. area, R&B was all I really knew. Then she introduced me to the amazing world of ’80s music. We were always asking each other, ā€œWhat are you listening to?ā€

Even now, I still love sitting and listening to her sing. She has the most beautiful voice and knows every word to every ’80s song. Every one of those songs reminds me of her.

She even found me a seat that helped reduce the noise when we went to see The English Beat, Modern English, and Howard Jones. The whole time, I kept thinking, ā€œAll I wanted was to listen to music with her.ā€

I hope everyone has a friend like her at least once in their life, because there is truly no one like her.

I’ll be recovering for a while after our trip to Salt Lake City, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Every laugh, every song, and every memory we made together was worth it. ā¤ļø

Cancer may be happening to my body, but it has changed my husband's life too.

He's been there for every appointment, every treatment, every setback, and every victory.

Sometimes the strongest person in the room is the one quietly holding everyone else together.

This is for every caregiver who loves through the uncertainty. Mitch and I see you !

This is so vulnerable for me to share because I know so many of you are facing your own challenges.

Some days, I can do it all. I push through, get things done, and feel proud of what I've accomplished.

Other days, I'm completely tapped out. Emotionally drained. I have no capacity to think, and even the smallest tasks feel overwhelming.

Friday was one of those days. It brought back flashes of everything I've been through over the past 19 months. Living with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer isn't just about treatments it's learning to navigate chronic pain, medications, side effects, and the emotional weight that comes with it.

Little by little, I do see progress with my pain, and I'm incredibly grateful for that. But then my body responds differently to chemo, it feels like I'm being whiplashed back and forth every single day.

There is so much more to the story, but I wanted to share this part because I know someone else may need to hear that they're not alone!

And if you're struggling today, whatever your battle may be, please don't ever, ever give up. There is still hope, even on the hardest days. 🫶

Ethen & Lauryn.
They truly are made for each other. Ethen is nonstop energy, always pushing forward and doing something , while Lauryn is such a driven go-getter who quietly gets things done. They balance each other so well, and I’ve always loved watching that about them.

Even while in college, they both had their own individual goals and passions days and even weeks not seeing each other because of schedules.
Ethen with football and Lauryn with dance yet they always supported one another in a way that allowed them both to grow. Through all of it (years in factšŸ˜‚) they really got to know and understand each other and what they both wanted in life.

What has always meant the most to me is the compassion, respect, and encouragement they show one another. Seeing that kind of love and partnership has always made my heart happy. Her patience with Ethen and her unconditional love for him made her even more special. Ethen adores her and has always knew she was it! Well you all did it! We are so proud of the choices you have made.
Love getttig another daughter and sister for Maya and Drake šŸ’— love you guys! @ethencluff10 @lauryn.jensen

One day I hope to handle my anxiety and stress a little better. One day. šŸ¤
It never really gets easier. My nervous system has been through so much and honestly, I think it’s exhausted. Living with chronic pain has given me a whole new compassion for those who fight battles people cannot always see.
My new treatment plan will be another targeted therapy to help fight the mets. We honestly don’t know if it will work, but I’m willing to try. I still have too many things to do… and yes, I’d really like to keep my hair.
Gratitude for another day...

Divine intervention happened in 1988 when two girls from opposite sides of the country met in college. What started with countless Circle K runs for sodas turned into something far deeper a friendship built on understanding each other’s lives, struggles, and great moments!

She checks on me almost every single day. She knows when I'm struggling. She has flown out just to see me for a few hours. She sends me food constantly because she worries I’m not eating when I don’t have the energy or desire to cook. And she has done so many more things too personal to even share.

She is my sister in every way that matters. My true blessing....

Her faith is unwavering, and she continues to strengthen mine when I feel like giving up. She worries about me constantly, and honestly, it makes me feel so seen and so loved.

šŸŽ‰Happy Birthday, KristenšŸŽ‰There is truly no one like you.

 38 years....

I love you.

When I look at these photos, I can hardly comprehend that I have lived an entire year in 24/7 pain and discomfort once again fighting for my life against cancer.

There is no cure, and we are managing it. But I am finally seeing a small bit of relief with ongoing pain treatments (needles in the skull) 😳 and a new chemotherapy that specifically targets my breast cancer mutation.

The miracle is this: five years ago, there was no treatment for my mutation. Now it has a new name! HER2-low. There are many types of breast cancer, and mine finally has its own category.

After another liquid biopsy and it sent across the country , I matched with a newer drug, as the previous one had simply run its course. I am stable. We are managing this for now. Although I still light up on scans 🄲
Some days I can barely function. Other days I can get a few things done and feel accomplished and that is a win!

There is so much to my journey that I could never fit it all into a social post. But what I do want to say is this:
when you feel like you can’t go on anymore, surrender and wait until you can.

My treatments are not done. My pain hasn’t subsided. My vision is blurry, and I forget so much.

But I am still here.

And I feel a small spark of desire returning. I don’t know how long it will last, but for now,

I am grateful.

Prayers are real. Gratitude for life is real. And never giving up is non-negotiable in my eyes.

Sharing this photo from last year is incredibly vulnerable for me. It was a dark and painful time. But I want people to understand this: metastatic breast cancer is evil. I don’t carry much hate in my heart, but I hate this cancer. It has physically changed me, and that is hard.

Faith doesn’t always make this journey easier in fact, sometimes it makes it so much harder, but it brings peace and strength.

Thank you for your continued love and support.
I love you. šŸ’—
