What a special moment for our Eagle family! 👑

It was my honor to officially crown Mykenzi Davis-Cowart as the 84th Miss North Carolina Central University and Malachi Griddine as the 27th Mister North Carolina Central University tonight.

I am incredibly proud of these two student leaders and excited to support them throughout their reign. I look forward to seeing how they use their platforms to serve our students, represent NCCU and leave their own mark on our university.

Congratulations to our new Mister and Miss NCCU!

Today our Department of Nursing hosted colleagues from Kabarnet University College and Moi University in Kenya. The visit represents an important opportunity for NCCU to strengthen international academic partnerships and advance our shared commitment to excellence in nursing education, research, practice and service. Today's meeting was a meaningful platform for the exchange of ideas, best practices and innovative approaches to preparing the next generation of nurses and nurse leaders. #eagleinchief13 #WeAreNCCU @nccunursing by @eagleinchief13

Today's National HBCU Pre-Law Summit & Law Expo was amazing. NCCU was proud to welcome over 1600 HBCU students, legal professionals and educators to campus to explore what it takes to pursue a legal education and career. @ncculawschool is one of six HBCU law schools and has a rich and storied history. #eagleinchief13 #WeAreNCCU by @eagleinchief13

Today was NCCU’s first annual Wellness Day, capping a week of activities designed to support the holistic well-being of our faculty and staff. Reaching our enrollment target of 10,000 Eagles three years early took a lot of effort from all areas of the university.

We had a meeting pause for the day to give employees time to catch up on outstanding tasks or organize their workspaces.

Walk the Nest was a guided campus walking tour which highlighted key locations and ensured leaders shared information about initiatives underway at the university. Our student Campus Tour guides kept us thoroughly entertained the whole way.

We wrapped up with a healthy lunch and an opportunity to connect with one another.

Investing this time to recharge and reflect will help us to deliver even more for our students and each other.

#behindthescenes Thank you, @mayorbmscott for taking a moment to stop by during your visit to NCCU. I am glad that the delegation you led from the City of Baltimore had a productive experience in Durham and enjoyed our wonderful Eagle hospitality. #eagleinchief13 #nccu by @eagleinchief13

NCCU and @durham_public_schools have a special relationship. It was great to hear Superintendent Dr. Anthony S. Lewis outline the significant gains in DPS’ school performance at last night’s State of the District. We have many partnerships with DPS, including the Josephine Dobbs Clement Early College High School on our campus.

We also heard from the DPS Principal of the Year and had a wonderful musical selection from a DPS student.

Thanks to Provost Wooden and Interim Dean Jeffrey Warren of the NCCU School of Education for joining me. #eagleinchief13 #durhamnc #nccu by @eagleinchief13

Women’s Day at New Creation United Methodist Church was wonderful. Thank you to Pastor Livingston and Dr. Bernice Duffy Johnson for the invitation to share the NCCU story with your congregation. Thank you to the NC Central University Choir, directed by Prof. Roberta Laws, for always representing the university so beautifully.

I had a great time with our 2026 Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National Champions this morning at their championship ring ceremony. @nccuhcasc

What a thrill to celebrate and recognize this extraordinary group of young women whose academic excellence, preparation, resilience and teamwork made history for North Carolina Central University. This team not only earned NCCU’s first national Honda Campus All-Star Challenge championship, but they also became the first all-women team to represent NCCU in the competition and only the third all-women team in the competition’s history to win a national title.

Thank you to faculty adviser Dr. Janice Dargan, head coach Mr. Clayton Mack, assistant coach Ms. Teah Smith, as well as all teammates and the entire ecosystem that made this possible. And thanks to NCCU Trustee @rodofgodcomedy for serving as today’s emcee. #WeAreNCCU #eagleinchief13 @the_hcasc by @eagleinchief13
