This September @jinsoulist__ and I started playing duets together. Our theme was “borderless sound”— bringing music from the places where we grew up and mixing it together into something new. We are not done! Soon we will take this basis in music that comes from deep within and move it into new directions. Stay tuned! by @eamesmorris

Excited to share this special duo series with @eamesmorris at Time Passage！
For three Mondays, we’ll explore the folk music of our homelands, blending songs like “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” “亲密爱人,” and “Mil-yang Arirang” with improvisation and compositions by Carla Bley.

We just came back from our amazing honeymoon in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. I haven’t been this sad coming back from a trip in a long time, it was just absolutely perfect. We saw so many amazing things and went so many beautiful places.
I included a photo or two of this beautiful grey heron we kept seeing in the Maldives— he fished in the ocean! Somehow he felt like a good spirit blessing our new marriage. I know we will never forget this for the rest of our lives. by @eamesmorris

“Continuum”
This song was written by Jaco Pastorius, one of the greatest electric bass players who ever lived. I also wove in a bit of “Did The Ever Tell Cousteau?”, by EST, my other major inspiration.
Something about the key of E creates this oceanic feeling so that even mistakes blend into the vastness of the texture. So grateful for my bandmates in @mooncatsh and for @gcjzclub for giving us a place to do our thing. by @eamesmorris

We had an absolute blast playing at @jzclubsh with the master @li_shihai. We had a blast blending together our repertoires and making some new sounds. Thanks to Mr. Li for the invite! Can’t wait to be back soon! #jazz #indie #bass #piano #drums #shanghai

Jazz doesn’t have enough fast cuts and explosions so we thought we’d add some.

Heard this song 11 years ago and always wanted to play it. We recorded this last week after doing some light arranging. This was the first EST song I ever heard and it blew my mind!! by @eamesmorris
