Working hard on my next feature film which will be about the life + work of Scottish-born performance artist Alastair MacLennan.

Anyone who knows Alastair will be aware of the enormous impact he’s had on visual art in the north of Ireland + further afield. I’ve been an admirer of Alastair’s work for a long time so to be making this film is a very special honour indeed. 🖤

Thank you to the @artscouncilireland for supporting this project and I look forward to sharing more about it later in the year.

Class week at ATN filming for the @behindwalls_irl project as well as taking part in the Curious Minds programme. 🌻

‘Behind Walls’ is a Research Ireland-funded project using art to open up conversations around cancer and to help raise awareness for cancer research. We are in the process of facilitating creative led workshops in Secondary Schools, GAA clubs & Cancer Support groups in both Derry and Waterford to help tackle the stigma around cancer - from these conversations artist @achesdub will produce two permanent murals in the two walled cities later this year.

I’ll be documenting this process with fellow filmmaker @rabiemustapha2022 and we’ll produce a short doc on the whole project for early next year.

This temp mural at @alltogethernow.ie is centred on the theme of support. Aches developed the concept after speaking first-hand with people affected by cancer across a range of backgrounds, and the recurring theme that came through was the importance of support, whether from family, friends, doctors, charities or researchers. 🔬

My film will have its Czech Premiere later this week as part of the 60th AFO Film Festival - Europe’s leading science film festival - where it will compete in this year’s International Competition.

It’s been a special few days in Nijmegen attending this year’s InScience Film Festival with my film 💜

Proud and honoured to be selected as their opening night film!!
