Trailer For TDE Films Debut Film, ‘We Are Not Ok’ Written And Directed By Britt Banks Released

Here's the new trailer for 'We Are Not Ok,' TDE films' premiere film from Executive Producer Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, Writer and Director Britt Banks, produced by TDE Films and Earfquake Entertainment.

Placed in informal kinship care with distant relatives, two sisters struggle to adjust as the eldest plans to escape and care for her younger sister on her own.

Starring Candace Nicholas-Lippman, known for her role on Blindspotting on Starz, and PJae Compton of The Sweet Life: Los Angeles on HBO, alongside Lauryn McCardell, Shiah Taylor, and Tiara Kennedy.

We Are Not Okay (2025)

I feel this deeply. If I had to choose only one, this would be my favorite moment in the film. The way the organ weaves in between the innocence of their curiosity. The way the church looms, imposing, yet crowned with symbols of hope. The way the younger sister interprets their mother’s absence as the substance of things unseen and hoped for. That’s faith.

"We Are Not Okay" explores kinship care, something many of us have experienced in one form or another, especially if you're a part of Black and Brown communities. If you were raised by a relative, or raised a relative, if you were formally adopted or fostered, if you were informally taken in by a family member or family friend, if you found a safe space in the home of a childhood friend and spent most of your time there, you are a product of kinship care. ❤️

Held a private screening of We Are Not Okay for my birthday sponsored by Top Dawg Ent. And Earfquake Entertainment. The screening and Q&A were so special. I’m so proud of this film and everyone involved! Thank you all for your support over the years!
