A little follow-up to my teaware collection 🫖

Someone asked me how I use this low, wide gaiwan, which resembles a Japanese shiboridashi but was made by a Korean ceramic artist, my friend @nojeon_yo 🍃

I usually brew green tea in it. Its wide shape gives the leaves room to open, and I love how it turns even a simple brewing session into a moment to slow down and pay attention.

I’m always drawn to teaware that sits somewhere between function and art, especially when it carries the touch of the person who made it.

That someone is me. It’s always me. 🍵

Some people pack extra outfits, I pack teapots, gaiwans, and enough tea for every possible mood.

Because what if I find the perfect spot for a tea session? What if I need a little tea break? What if I suddenly crave a very specific oolong?

I might forget something important, but you can be sure I’m not leaving my tea behind. 👀

Please tell me I’m not the only one who travels with an entire tea setup.

A slow morning, served with a cup of tea. 🍵

If you came to my tea house for breakfast, I would serve you a warm, creamy porridge with a little milk, muscovado sugar, peanut butter, mixed seeds, and organic strawberries grown by @ilcampodiandrea , gently cooked without added sugar. 🍓

To accompany it, I chose a black tea from Qaleh Rudkhan, in Iran’s Gilan province. 🇮🇷 (again thank you @papik_timelessleaves )

I love how the tea’s depth and gentle astringency balance the richness of the peanut butter, while the muscovado brings out its warmer notes. The strawberries add a touch of acidity that brightens every spoonful.

Sometimes a good tea pairing isn’t about matching similar flavours, but about finding balance between them.

A tea made with persimmon leaves? 🍂

In Korea, it’s called gamip-cha (감잎차), a herbal infusion made from the leaves of the persimmon tree.

While we often enjoy persimmons for their sweet, honey-like flesh, their leaves have their own place in Korean tea culture. Once harvested and processed, they can be steeped into a delicate infusion with a gentle, vegetal flavour and a soft, warming finish.

Some days don’t need fixing, just hot water, good leaves, and a little time.

There’s something about oolong that fits these slower, moodier moments perfectly, watching the leaves open, pouring cup after cup, and letting the day become a little quieter.

Things I drink when I’m not drinking tea. 🍃

Working with tea has made me particularly curious about drinks built around plants, transformation and complex flavors, which is exactly what caught my attention about @feral_drinks

Feral starts with an unexpected ingredient: organic beets, transformed through lactic fermentation and infused with roots, spices and woods.

The result is a botanical, alcohol-free drink with acidity, spice and layers of flavor: something I want to slow down and actually taste, just as I would with tea.

Served in a wine glass, very cold, and enjoyed slowly. 🌿

Because sometimes I’m not drinking tea… just something equally interesting!

At this point, discovering plants I’ve never heard of and immediately wondering what they taste like as tea is basically part of the journey 🍵🌿

Today’s discovery: Korean camellia mistletoe tea, made from Korthalsella japonica, a tiny parasitic plant that grows on camellia trees.

Native camellia mistletoe from Jeju has even been studied for its bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity. So yes, the strange little Korean plant sent me down another rabbit hole. 🌿
