Another changeover in The Gardener’s Cottage @earshamhall between lovely guests and another chance to share with you some sneaky peeks inside 😍

Designed to allow guests to really feel that they are staying in their very own bolt hole inside the Earsham Hall Estate, The Gardener’s Cottage (aka TGC ☺️) is fully equipped for up to four people to retreat from everything else and/or close enough to delve back into activities with @earshamhall_shop @earshamhall_antiques @earshamhall_tearooms @georgesgorgeousgardens @walrus.studios on their doorstep (almost) when the fancy takes them 🥰

If there is ever a gap between bookings, we are tempted to have our own staycation there ourselves 🤩🙏👌🏼

A kitchen designed for guests who love to cook and those that don’t and just want to sit and chat as well….you can do both!

Our guests love the open plan living and dining room and kitchen in the cottage …mirroring that concept of the kitchen in @earshamhall which has changed over the last 100 years to be more than just a place to prepare food….🥰

You can even see the solar panels at work providing power all year round ☀️☀️☀️

Opposite The Music Room and hidden behind a simple wooden door is one of the longer term projects here @earshamhall ….The Walled Garden.

Over an acre in size this beauty is completely surrounded by its gorgeous 18th century Wall and complete with a lily pond and statue on the western side that you may have seen before ⬇️.

Ideas of what to do with it abound, but we have other projects to complete before we begin to tackle anything here….so we will keep you abreast of things once they start to take shape!!

The Music Room @earshamhall is certainly getting closer to being ready for guests….boxes to unpack, furniture to be positioned, beds to be made, drawers to filled….getting ready for when we launch onto @airbnb and other platforms in a few weeks.

Brought back into the fold of @earshamhall a few months ago, this Grade I listed building, originally an Orangery and then redesigned by Sir John Soane in the 1780s as The Music Room is being lovingly bought back to life. A remarkable piece of history that we are so excited to be sharing soon with everyone and where you can actually stay and experience the serenity of what is a rather magical space!

This is Stage 1 (although in reality it feels like stage 101 😝) of us extending what we have to offer @earshamhall in 2026.

Along with all the fabulous businesses here which provide a rich variety of reasons to visit us already with @earshamhall_shop @earshamhall_antiques @earshamhall_tearooms @georgesgorgeousgardens and @walrus.studios….we also have The Gardener’s Cottage full of gorgeous guests wanting to stay here @earshamhall via @airbnb, and now TWO more places to stay with the Music Room and The Woodman’s Cottage coming soon.

Just a week to go until our next Courtyard Market on Saturday 4th July at Earsham Hall

Our courtyard will be filled with stallholders selling an array of locally produced edible goodies, fresh flowers, drinks, artisan ceramics and a few surprises

Alongside breakfast, brunch and lunch,
@earshamhall_tearooms will be selling a delicious selection of homemade quiches and pies - available to pre-order
@earshamhall_antiques @earshamhall_shop @walrus.studios and @georgesgorgeousgardens are all open too

Gather family & friends and come for a browse - the market runs from 10am-1pm, with the rest of us open until 4pm

Free entry, plenty of parking, and lots of delicious foodie fun - you’ll find us @earshamhall just outside Bungay on the Norfolk / Suffolk border

Last night’s evening walk in this beautiful sunshine…..trying to stop and stand and notice at the time and now noticing again here by sharing with you our lovely followers….hope you don’t mind ☺️

1 Henry waiting by the gate amongst the Ox-Eye Daisies 🌼
2 The Lake (originally known as The Resevoir as it was created in 1890s for insurance purposes)….anyway 😝 now home to a family of Canada Geese with Goslings 😍
3 One of the gorgeous Oaks in the woods…all gnarled and beautiful 🌳
4 Barry’s Walk created in Lockdown through the woods now grassy and like a carpeted pathway
5 Henry barrel rolling on the South Lawn 🐶

Making time to stand and stare….think we could all do with a bit more of that! Happy Friday all 🥳🥳

Today I had a recording session in the incredible Music Room @earshamhall designed in 1784 by Sir John Soane. Converted from an orangery to a music room, the acoustics are VERY special. One of my favourite things is exploring the sound of out of the way spaces!! Thankyou Annabel 🙌💚🙌 Music coming, but for now, a few photos. Also… very soon people will be able to stay here! Trumpets abound in the middle of Earsham Hall this week….in the form of the Angel’s Trumpet plant which surrounds the 19th Century Crane which stands watch over the old servants’ kitchen.

Today the glazed ceiling sheds light on the whole area and the plants clearly enjoy it☀️Topped off with the red Amaryllis unexpectedly appearing outside Christmas, but adding a burst of colour to the scene.

Quite a bit to navigate through in this busy thoroughfare 😝 between the Tudor and the Queen Anne parts of @earshamhall.

An evening stroll through the wrought iron gates (keep swiping to see that!), focusing on the South Facing side of Earsham Hall….highlighting the addition of the library on the left hand side of the Queen Anne “Block” thought to have been designed by a John Soane (the library that is, not the main house….he wasn’t even a twinkle in his parent’s eye when that was built 😝)

The 1890s bay window addition complete with balcony above which offered a perfect view of events held on the South Lawn. Note the bricked in windows, filled at the same time as the bay window addition so there was space inside the drawing room to fit furniture along walls!

The west side view of @earshamhall shows how two buildings one Tudor and one completed in 1710 were joined ….the “modern” 300 year old addition looming large and the older being more higgledy piggledy….interwoven history & stories all in one place.

What a fabulous storm last night…@earshamhall took a battering with the torrential rain and the lightening flash and claps of thunder had an eerie film-like quality walking down our creaky staircase 👻

The natural noises could not be covered over with music this time…particularly the squeal at the end 😝 Hope you didn’t get too wet ☔️

The nosiest (& at times noisiest) of neighbours, our peacocks certainly bring even more entertainment to daily life here @earshamhall

In the 18th and 19th centuries, there was a fascination with bringing in exotic animals and plants from other parts of the world to show wealth and sophistication in stately home gardens. Peacocks with their handsome looks (the males are the ones with the big tails & dramatic displays) fitted perfectly into the gardens and parklands of the estates. They were both ornamental and a conversation piece for visitors strolling through the grounds.

Here @earshamhall they were introduced in the 1980s to follow that tradition and have thrived….you are likely to see them somewhere when you visit…often perched on a wall or a roof so they can get a good view of what is going on…or you will hear their loud calls from somewhere in the distance! 🦚🦚🦚
