sitting under a tree i notice:

sitting under a tree i noticed the submission of it. at first i thought wow that tree gets to just be. it gets to just live as the wind blows through its leaves but then i thought, it can’t control how the wind blows through its leaves. what if the tree wanted to be still? there was also squirrels in the tree. animals and bugs who have made their homes in the depths of this tree but what if the tree wanted to be alone? in order for a tree to grow, or any plant at that, it needs certain conditions or else it’ll never sprout. it’ll die if not fully submitted to the conditions in which it needs to grow.

ive always craved freedom so submission is a difficult concept to grasp. how can i be free while submitting to something bigger than me? but the truth is, the tree is healthy, the tree is alive, and the tree is not concerned about the things that it cannot control. the tree does not view its conditions as a burden but as a blessing. as long as its growing and thriving, nothing else really matters.

i wondered who’s home for a tree that is home for so many creatures? but the world is its home. it’s home is greater than the home that it can provide but that’s more of a reason why it has the ability to provide. and that’s something to be grateful for. we should be grateful for all we can give to others because we’ve been given so much by something greater than ourselves. i believe in God, and i know how rich his abundance is for those who love him. and because of the love he has for me, i will always have an abundance of love to everyone that i encounter. even if it’s viewed more as a burden from the outside looking in. i have access to limitless love and so i will always aim to give love limitlessly.

and that is true freedom. loving limitlessly, NOT choosing to do whatever you want. because we can’t control our circumstances. we can’t control the families we’re born into and the ways that others treat us. but we can control the love we give and the love we allow ourselves to receive. and with love comes freedom. freedom to be who i’m made to be. and that’s why the trees never complain… by @earth2domi
