Spotted Bike ⛓️
Late 90s what I believe to be a Cove Hummer Ti. If others have ideas or confirmed answer please let me know. Spotted in Vancouver this bike looks like a true early days North Shore assassin. Marzocchi Z1, XTR, Hayes brakes, and all the RaceFace bits. Would have loved to see it with the matching yellow front wheel. But nonetheless I love coming across old proper mountain bikes in wild.

First run Banshee Scratch ⛓️

A true crossover from BMX to Freeride. Compatible with 26” and 24” the Scratch leaves each rider with their own options to play with. Beefy gussets and added slide plates on the chain stays are peak early 2000s. Couldn’t pass this deal for a near NOS. Oh how the collection grows. @bansheebikes

Founded in Montreal in 1990 by Frédéric Monast, Jérôme Dagenais, and Hugo Bardou, Cycles Balfa achieved global cult status with the BB7—a groundbreaking downhill rig pioneering a high single-pivot layout and idler pulley to isolate drivetrain forces from suspension movement. Seeking to scale, the founders sold the boutique brand to Quebec manufacturing giant Procycle in 2001; however, corporate restructuring led Procycle to permanently retire the Balfa name by 2006, cementing these original frames as highly sought-after icons of vintage freeride history.

Founded in 2006 as a spin-off of an aerospace CNC machine shop in Sidney, BC. Straitline Components spent the next decade shifting the mountain bike industry towards indestructible, over-engineered hardware. Instead of relying on fragile, standard bike industry bearings, they built their legendary DeFacto pedals around heavy-duty igus polymer bushings that thrived in the brutal Pacific Northwest mud. They also pioneered ergonomic, flat-faced replacement brake levers that drastically reduced hand pump. By machining components from raw 6061 and 7075 T6 aluminum with near-zero tool marks and beautiful colours, Straitline stripped away the fluff, proving that a bike part’s visual appeal should come directly from precise, uncompromised industrial engineering. ⛓️

Born in 1981 as Canada’s first dedicated mountain bike shop, Vancouver’s Deep Cove Bike Shop was the literal epicenter for North Shore trail building pioneers. By the early 1990s, the shop crew realized mass-produced XC bikes instantly disintegrated on the harsh, brutal, steep terrain of British Columbian mountains. Driven by the absolute necessity to survive. The birth of free riding felt its first sun. Chaz Romalis, Doug “Dr. Dew” Lafavor, and Ashley Walker began designing their own overbuilt, abuse-ready frames directly out of the storefront. This local evolution organically birthed Cove Bikes as a standalone manufacturer, forever anchoring legendary frames like the Stiffee and Shocker to the raw, rugged DNA of the North Shore roots that forged them. ⛓️🌲

1999 Oryx Sport1000 resto-mod. Purchased with the intentions to swap some parts off for a Giant Iguana, single speed build I was working on at the time. Ended up really liking this blue and with the frame being such clean condition I wanted to do something up. Bikes sold and to a good home that’ll get some dirt under the tires!

1992 Kona Fire Mountain cruiser/klunker
⛓️
This is the birth of left over parts and a coaster wheel off marketplace. Will likely live as a grocery getter, or park cruiser. Surprisingly it is a comfortable and nimble machine. From the geometry that the seating position makes, it feels like you’re directing a steed. Some more rolled over tires and a rack are to come.⛓️🪾

Rooted in Quebec’s “Aluminum Valley,” Devinci Cycles has grown from a 1987 startup into a global leader defined by its Canadian heritage. By leveraging local Saguenay aluminum and clean hydroelectric power, Devinci maintains a rare vertically integrated factory where high-end frames are hydroformed and hand welded in house. Devinci earned their valour on the UCI World Cup circuit, when the late Canadian legend Stevie Smith piloted his Quebec-made Wilson to the 2013 overall title. Today, Devinci continues to blend this podium-proven DNA with domestic craftsmanship, proving that homegrown precision can dominate the world stage.⛓️

Ry’s 1992 RockyMountain Experience super-moto build

“I wanted to make this build as funky as possible to match the 90s elevated chainstay trend that never really stuck.”

It’s got Maxxis Hookworm 2.5s, Mavic x139 wheels, Fox f80 fork, Gusset BMX stem, Stridsland moto bar, Renthal foamy 😂, Primo BMX pedals, Raceface Deus XC cranks, Blackspire bashgaurd, DMR single speed kit, Turbo saddle and Tektro brake boosters.

Not period correct at all but all of the parts are vintage/ second hand except the bar and single speed kit.

Thing is absolutely dialled and wheelies for days 🤘⛓️
