I was in my head today on my drive to work. As I witness another woodland cleared. More trees turned to asphalt. One more plaza and for what another Crumbl Cookie? The small, daily death of the living world, paved over for convenience to keep us numb and dumb.

Then I thought of the Monk and Robot series I just completed: A Psalm for the Wild-Built and A Prayer for the Crown-Shy. And I was hit with the epiphany it had taught that hope isn't naive. It's the only thing that outlasts the bulldozers. That you can find light through the decomposition that even rot has purpose.

They tell us technology will destroy the earth, but they forget to mention it could also save it. Why use our creative energy fighting the machine, when we can reprogram it to serve life?

Drones planting entire forests where fires destroyed them. 🌲
Ocean cleanup arrays pulling plastic from the deep. 🌊
Vertical farms growing food in abandoned buildings. 🏗️
Sensors protecting water systems in real time. 💧
Renewable grids powered by sun, wind, and wave. ☀️

We must refuse to believe technology only serves the extractors. We give that narrative its power. And we forget how powerful we are. We can write a new script. We can code new earth.

What if our technology learned from nature? There’s a smarter way to design our world. It’s called biomimicry. That means copying nature’s smartest designs.

For example:

🕸️Spider webs inspire stronger, lighter materials.
🐜Termite mounds inspire buildings that stay cool without AC.
🍃Plant leaves inspire better solar panels.

Nature already knows how to solve problems in ways that don’t harm the planet.

Biomimicry means asking one simple question:
“How would nature build this?”

The answers lead to cleaner, smarter, and more beautiful solutions.
