Podcast Interview with Thembi Duncan . . .

https://www.buzzsprout.com/2327703/episodes/16814966

In this episode, I sit down with acclaimed director and educator Eric Ruffin to explore the artistry, history, and purpose that fuel his work. We talk about his unexpected journey from actor, to Navy submariner, to visionary theatre director, and how his lived experiences have shaped the way he tells stories.
Eric shares his insights on:

✅ Theatre as a tool for visibility and healing
✅ The responsibility of Black artists in storytelling
✅ How directing is an act of love and transformation
✅ The power of bold design choices in theatrical worlds
✅ His dream of leading a theatre company that serves the community first
...and lots more! This was a rich, dynamic conversation about artistry, legacy, and how we shape culture through storytelling. by @earuffin

A Love Letter

I Love You Eric Antonio Ruffin.
The declaration seems so small but the responsibility is huge/ it’s the scaffolding. I Love You when you’re filled with doubt, it reminds me of how little you actually know. But somehow in spite of the doubt you seem to figure out how to move through your insecurities and be present. I love your huge heart - you big cry baby- let’s make a date to go see a movie that’s sure to make you cry. I think it’s sweet that you’re not afraid to display vulnerability. I love that you’re an artist- creating beauty & offering hope out of the muck that looks like despair. You’ve lived a blessed life and there is so much to be grateful for. I love that you share your talent/ ideas/ and resources. Trusting that one day those birds will return and grace you with their song. And, Im gonna keep loving you: your adventurous spirit- your irreverent tongue- your curiosity . . .with those rabbit holes filled with lofty thoughts and your passion for understanding. You’re a gem and I’m so glad that God has given you to me.

I haven’t written a love letter since middle school; And that’s too long ago. There are so many people that I love. They should know. Instead of regular posts about travels and career moves I’m gonna commit to sending a different energy into the universe.

@earuffin and I started talking about all the ways we want to be creative so quickly I forgot to hit record. Glad I eventually did because he shares some beautiful and joyful ideas about theater. taken in Washington, DC by @earuffin
