Midnight Jasmine ✿

Acrylic & Gouache on paper.
Mounted 54cm x 74cm
(Original not for sale)

Continuing the Jasmine theme that I started in the beginning of summer, I’ve finally completed the painting part of it. I still have some detailing to add but I couldn’t wait to share what it looks like in its frame 🤩

Thank you to everyone who’s shared in this journey 💙

Slowing down at Grande Mosquée de Paris ✨🌙

Final post I promise!

Looking back it may have been more hectic than anticipated getting to the destination for some of our sketch & sip group, with some flying and others coming via Eurostar on differing days and times…

🍃 but Alhumdulillah, sketchbook in hand, we wandered through the beautiful mosque.

🍃 Surrounded by intricate Moorish architecture, geometric tiles, peaceful courtyards, trickling fountains and lush gardens. There was inspiration all around us.

🍃 It wasn’t about creating the perfect sketch, it was about noticing the smaller details and allowing ourselves to simply be present in the moment.

🍃 Away from the busy streets, hearing the water tricking through the fountains, feeling the breeze through the wisteria. There’s something incredibly calming about observing your surroundings and letting your pencil move at its own pace.

🍃 For me creativity isn’t always about completing something, sometimes it about being in the moment completely.

🍃 After sketching, we ended the afternoon at the mosque’s café, enjoying fresh mint tea and traditional North African cuisine .. a perfect way to round off a mindful afternoon.

🍃 Sadly on this occasion we were unable to experience the on site traditional hammam but on our list for the next visit!

🍃 I’m hoping this is the first of many Sketch & Sip days, where creativity becomes less about perfection and more about presence Insha’Allah ✨

Have you ever visited the Grande Mosquée de Paris?

Unfolding beauty - Bismillah/Jasmine | work in progress. Gouache and Acrylic on paper

My neighbor’s jasmine sprig is still here helping me get this done.

The word “Jasmaine” originates from ancient Persia, where it was first cultivated. Interestingly, the Persian term “yasmin” not only refers to the flower but also signifies divine beauty, meaning “gift from God.” #whatsinaname

I always thought it was the other way round and that my name came from the word Jasmine 🤔

Do you know the meaning of your name?

Starting my own ‘Bangla’ word of the week - Seems like the perfect time to start something new as we head into autumn 🍂 🤎

Today’s word is
✿ প্রশান্তি - 𝓟𝓻𝓸𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓲

✿ This refers to a deep, soulful, and absolute inner peace. It is the emotional and mental feeling of profound calmness.

Isn’t it a beautiful place to be? And I have missed drawing/painting so much.

I’m excited to reconnect to my roots but I’m ashamed to say I’ve let so much go. There was a time where I would’ve picked up a Bangla book just for the sake of reading. My parents who spent endless hours teaching me whilst they adjusted to living in a foreign country especially my mum 🥹
My later brother would also be appalled too as he had wall to wall of Bangla books.

I also know he would be smiling now if he knew that I’m starting this journey 🥀

Goodbye September/summer 2026.

It’s been bittersweet, so many wonderful new memories along with the grief of losing our fur baby Milo. We miss him so much and our home is not the same ❤️‍🩹

What a week! 🥹✨

I’m so excited to share that my ‘Grandmother’s Blanket’ (Nakshi Kantha) has been selected by Camden Council for the KingsX Benches Exhibition!

Alongside 34 amazing artists working across different disciplines, it’s been such a busy but exciting week getting everything ready and sent off for large-scale vinyl printing.

And now… you can come and see (and sit 😆) on my artwork from tomorrow!

📍 Granary Square & King’s Boulevard, King’s Cross
📅 10–30 August 2026

Many of you know how meaningful this piece is to me.
To have my work representing my heritage as a British Bangladeshi artist here in Camden makes this opportunity feel particularly special.

Feeling incredibly grateful to @love.camden Culture Team for this wonderful opportunity and to be included alongside so many talented artists. ✨

Come find my bench and let me know if you spot it! 👀

✿ আমার নানির বাড়ির কেথা #ifykyk

Nakshi Kantha ✿

• Medium: Acrylic Ink & Gouache on paper
• Size: A4
• A4 or A5 prints available to order
• Or commission your own hand painted Nakshi Kantha

✿ If you’re Bangladeshi or South Asian you will recognise this straightaway. It’s an integral part of our childhood, culture and heritage.

✿ Ketha work or Nakshi Kantha

✿ The term translates to “artistic quilt,” combining the Bengali words naksha(pattern/design) and kantha (quilt)

✿ Originating in rural Bangladesh and West Bengal, India, it is a sustainable, eco-friendly textile art made by repurposing discarded or worn-out saris, dhotis, and lungis

✿ It is the ultimate and original recycling concept.

✿ I have a very vivid memory of when I had visited Bangladesh in the 1980’s and experiencing and actually putting some long stitches into a Ketha that was being made for someone in the extended family who was either getting married or having a baby.

✿ Every woman in that group contributed to creating a beautiful family heirloom which is handed down to the next generation.

✿ This was the true beauty of Bangladeshi village life.

✿ It’s a dying art even in the village I’m originally from so I created my very own version today! So nostalgic as so many of us try to hold onto parts of our grandparents (Nani) who may be long gone.

Do you feel a connection?
Tell me who it reminds you of?

My youngest has really been struggling to sleep since we lost Milo, we knew it was going to be tough on him but when I think my heart couldn’t break anymore 🥹

Last week he ran into where I was sitting watching telly and gave me this little post it note to Milo, my baby poured his heart out and I think it’s the best thing he could’ve done. I couldn’t be more prouder of my little boy 🥹😭

We received the cutest gifts for my son. Thank you so much for being so thoughtful 🙏🏽🤎🤎 by @easminmiah
