To be honest, rather than β€œrunning” toward this goal, it feels more accurate to say that I have crawled with stumbling, breaking, and shattering myself along the way. Conducting research as a biological scientist in Korea proved to be far more challenging than I have imagined. Prolonged experiments, unpredictable outcomes, and unforeseen data. After dedicating six years to a project, I was devastated to discover that my results had been compromised by artifacts. At that point, I thought, β€œThis is the end of the road; perhaps I am not destined to become a Ph.D.” I began to lose hope. But the unwavering encouragement and support from my colleagues, my family, and my now-wife @reu.m gave me the strength to rise again. It was not easy to overcome the disappointment and find myself back, but I endured. With their belief in me, I could discover a new, promising project. Drawing on the skills I had refined over the years, I was able to produce strong results and publish my work in a high-impact journal (Nucleic Acids Research, 2024 IF: 17). The countless hardships cannot be fully expressed in words. But having endured them and earned my doctoral degree, I feel not only an overwhelming sense of pride but also deep sense of relief. To everyone who has supported, encouraged, and believed in me throughout this long journey, I extend my deepest gratitude. Thank you for standing by me. Sincerely, -Dr. An- by @east_drink
