On our way back from Hay-on-Wye popping into Llandovery to see the striking statue of Welsh rebel Llewelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan. An ally of Owain Glyndŵr, executed for treason in Llandovery in the early sixteenth century.

Also locally known as the Darth Vader statue.

First stop on my and @eaa_duncan's Indian Honeymoon, a visit to the Red Fort in Delhi. Court of the Mughals, centre of the 1857 Mutiny and home to some stunning buildings and a few problematic museums.

Having had some bad experiences on the tube recently, I decided on another route to work: no, not the Dutch sailing barge but @thamesclippers. An incredibly relaxing, easy way into the City from Putney while sailing past London landmarks.

Throwback to last weekend and a behind the scenes look at the former Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Orford Ness as part of the @nationaltrust's "Island of Secrets Tour". Particularly impressive was being able to get up close to the "pagodas" in 📸 1.

Testing on Britain's atomic bombs were conducted in the labs to gauge their residence to vibration, pressure and temperature otherwise known as "shake, rattle and roll" tests. In the event of an explosion the roof of the pagodas holds 5 tons of shingle which would drop in and smother the blast.

The site has a long association with weapons research and abandoned laboratories as well as the Black Beacon, weapons ballistic tower and the remains of Cobra Mist (an over the horizon early warning system to detect Soviet missiles) mean there is plenty to see and explore. Now owned by the @nationaltrust tours are conducted during the summer months and early autumn.

An early evening stroll with @eaa_duncan from Dunwich to Aldeburgh via Sizewell B nuclear power station. The reactor giving an ethereal, brooding look beside the leaden, darkening skies.
