Annual Lunar New Year party was a success! We raised over £500 for charity @thepcrf and it was so amazing to see old friends and new, and all ages - from 1 year old to 19 to 50!
I also made sure half the dishes were veg/vegan while also serving up wings, ribs, pies and dumplings. GONG HEI FAT CHOY 🎊🧧❤️‍🔥

And that’s a wrap! 🥢 Thank you to @olfaclub Walthamstow for inviting me to cook through December, and to everyone who came and enjoyed the food and the bar 🍷🥟

It was honestly so validating to see people embrace my take on Malaysian cuisine — even if I’ve burnt my fingerprints off, haven’t slept for weeks and can’t bear the thought of anymore pastry making for a while! Rolling har gau until 2am in the morning on a regular basis is NOT a vibe haha.

I truly appreciate the feedback and support, and though I’m not planning to cook full-time in the near future, it’s definitely got me thinking about what to do next!

Happy Lunar/Chinese New Year from us! We celebrated last weekend, cooking in our home for about 45 people and raising money for WarChild UK. Beautiful photos by @joycentrism ❤️
On the menu was lobster laksa, Xinjiang lamb skewers, vegan spring rolls, siu mai dumplings, Sichuan fried chicken and mushrooms, gado gado salad, rojak salad, nasi kandar and more, using spices and ingredients from our travels through Asia last month.

First time in Korea and it did not disappoint! From soy marinated raw crab, to pickles, to sauces (favourite was ssamjang), BBQs and even Korean-Italian fusion.

Fascinating to taste so many similarities between Korean food and Japanese/Chinese and yet so unique in its own preparations and styles. Needed much more time to try all the places we’d been recommended - guess we’ll have to go back! taken in Seoul, South Korea by @easternplatters

Oh how we ate! 🇨🇳 Thank you @blondieinchina for showing us so many dishes and experiences in Beijing and Xi’An. First post of a few as we travel through Asia and reignite the passion to cook for others after a very difficult family year.
Dishes as follows:
- Shredded bread (chewy like firm gnocchi) in beef soup from Chinese Islamic restaurant
- Crunchy corn chip with cumin and spices from the Xi’An Muslim street food market
- Learning to roll dumplings
- Crispy potatoes, fried naan and fried mantou (bread)
- Beijing duck
- Xinjiang beef noodles
- Xinjiang dumplings
- Sichuan tender beef
- Spicy numbing fish, plus prawn balls suspended from a bonsai taken in China by @easternplatters
