Sometimes, God opens a door in the most unexpected places!

Rev. Mark Allan Evans was driving a bus and ministering to his passengers when one of them asked if he’d be willing to fill in for their church’s interim pastor while the person was away.

Soon thereafter, Rev. Evans was invited to become the pastor of that very church! Seven years later, he’s still faithfully serving and leading, and was just recognized by the West Virginia Baptist Convention.

Meet Palmer Seminary - Eastern University alumnus Rev. Mark Allan Evans, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Weston in West Virginia!

What a reminder that ministry doesn’t only happen behind a pulpit. Sometimes, it happens on a bus, in everyday conversations, and in the places where God has already positioned us to serve.

You never know who’s watching, who’s listening, or what door God might open when you simply remain faithful to the call. taken in Huntington, West Virginia by @easternualumni

For 50 years, Dr. David Bradstreet ’76 has inspired Eastern students to keep looking up. 🌌

From building Eastern’s observatory to expanding its planetarium, Dr. Bradstreet has helped generations of students explore the universe, pursue research, and discover the wonder of God’s creation.

Now, as he prepares to conclude his remarkable tenure at Eastern, we’re launching the Keep Looking Up: The Bradstreet Legacy Campaign to carry that legacy forward.

Through June 30, 2027, we’re inviting alumni, friends, and the Eastern community to help:

🔭 Replace aging telescopes with new, research-quality instruments

✨ Upgrade the planetarium’s technology

🌠 Establish an endowed fund to support future astronomy teaching

Together, we can ensure future generations of Eastern students have the opportunity to explore, question, and discover.
