Today on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we wear orange to honor the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities whose lives were forever altered.

Reconciliation is not a single day of awareness; it is an ongoing responsibility. Taking action means listening to Indigenous voices, educating ourselves on the history and lasting impacts of the residential school system, and supporting the 94 Calls to Action.

Take time today to reflect, learn, and commit to meaningful change. #WeAreRAVENS #WeSOARAbove by @eastsideravens

This week, as part of Truth and Reconciliation Week, our school community is taking time to listen, reflect, and learn. Throughout the week, students will engage in daily learning focused on:

Period 1: The Opening Address
Period 2: Land Affirmations & Acknowledgements
Period 3: Intergenerational Trauma
Period 4: Indigenous Artists

We wrap up our learning by recognizing National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th. On this day, we wear orange to honor Survivors, remember the children who never came home, and show that every child matters.

Thank you to our staff and students for engaging in this important work together.

Welcome back, Ravens! As we start a new school year on Wednesday, we are excited to grow, learn, and succeed together.

Our SOAR expectations set the foundation for everything we do:

Safety: Keep our school environment safe, follow campus rules, and support one another by reporting concerns to trusted adults.

Ownership: Take charge of your education by arriving on time, keeping phones in lockers during class, and actively engaging in your learning.

Attitude: Bring a growth mindset, support fellow Ravens, and take responsibility for your actions.

Respect: Treat others how they want to be treated, listen attentively, and celebrate our diverse community.

Let's make this year amazing!

RAVENS FOOTBALL — TRAINING CAMP COMPLETE!

The Junior and Senior Eastside Ravens Football teams have officially wrapped up training camp!

Our players got better each day — developing their football skills, knowledge of the game, teamwork, and confidence as we prepare for the season ahead. Great work by everyone who came out, competed, learned, and supported their teammates!

Interested in playing football? It’s not too late to join the Ravens!

Wednesday, September 2
Practice begins at 2:45 p.m.
Bring athletic clothing and cleats

Students interested in joining should email Mr. Gifford (sgifford@hpedsb.on.ca) for a permission form before practice.

No experience necessary — come ready to learn, work hard, and be part of the team.
