THE FRIDAY FROM HELL 💀😂

Y’all. I cannot make this shit up.

Showed up at The Feud ready to sell socks. Got assigned a swamp for my booth. Set up anyway because that’s where they put me.

First customer? Accidentally gave him the wrong socks. Thankfully he’s a regular and is coming back to exchange them. Great start. 😂

Then the wind declared war on my booth. Signs down. Sock feet down. Wooden display down. Over and over. Cleaned mud off everything about 100 times and rearranged the booth at least 10.

When other vendors relocated, some awesome neighbors helped me move my ENTIRE booth out of the swamp.

SUNSHINE! DRY LAND! FREEDOM! 🙌

For about five minutes.

The wind came back. I tried lowering the canopy, removed two weights, and before I could put them back, a gust lifted the tent.

AND ME WITH IT.

Yep. Briefly airborne, hanging on and yelling for help. Apparently Easy Wind Outfitters now offers flying lessons. 💀

My neighbor saw it but was busy hanging onto his own awning. Then my tent broke. Another vendor’s tent snapped at both back legs. Thankfully, nobody was hurt.

Got soaked rescuing inventory and displays from the rain. Stashed everything in a neighboring vendor’s trailer. Tried charging my phone, but it had gotten wet through my clothes. Even my phone quit on Friday.

Back at camp, changed into dry clothes and attempted the Halloween party.

THE WIND FOLLOWED ME. With cold temperatures.

Grabbed food, watched a little karaoke and retreated to camp. No costume. Just survival. 😂

Somehow sold about $200 in socks.

Friday’s scoreboard:

1 swamp escaped
1 broken tent
1 unauthorized flight
100 mud cleanups
10 booth rearrangements
1 sock exchange pending
1 temporarily uncooperative phone
0 injuries

And I’m back selling socks TODAY. Without a canopy. 😂

At a bike event, we expected to see a lot of pedals.

We did not expect one of our booth neighbors to buy a pair of Mavericks, put them on immediately, and then spend the day using a pedal powered sewing cycle to make his products.

Honestly, one of the coolest things we saw all weekend.

All in a day’s work.

October is going to be a busy one. 😂

This weekend we’re headed to Pennsylvania for UnPAved.

Next weekend the Herd splits up. Brian will be at the Roof Top Tent Rally in Appomattox, Virginia while Jennifer heads to The Feud in Matewan, West Virginia.

Then we’re back together for Overland Expo East in Arrington, Virginia.

Four stops. Three weekends. A whole lot of socks.

Proud to welcome Easy Wind Outfitters to The Feud! 🧦⛰️

Their story started along the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania, where their family cabin sat less than 100 feet from the trail. Hikers stopped in for food, a cold drink, or just a place to sit for a while. Long before anybody was calling it “trail magic,” it was simply how they did things.

That same love for the outdoors and the people you meet along the way eventually became Easy Wind Outfitters.

Today, Brian, Jennifer & Aidan make merino wool socks designed for hikers, riders, travelers, and anybody else who tends to put their gear through it.

Jennifer will be joining us in Matewan for The Feud, so stop by the booth and give your feet something better to deal with before we send you into to the mountains and onto the trails 😂
