In a world of pumpkin spice lattes, have a Pickle Americano 🥒☕️

We love pickles and pumpkins but don’t like lattes so, at Bear Pickles we have Pickle Pumpkin Americano’s instead.

This is made with a @nespresso.uk pumpkin spice cake pod (my favourite flavour!) and little tiny dash of our pickle juice, stir it with a pickle and then chuck it in. And drink 🐻🥒☕️

Would you choose our Pickle Pumpkin Americano? 🥒🎃☕️

Pickled chanterelles mushrooms, foraged by us in the Scottish Highlands.

As we have never pickled mushrooms before this makes episode 2 of our Pickle Lab 🧪🥒🍄

We did a “quick pickle” using organic white wine vinegar, as opposed to fermenting, as we wanted them ready quickly to try with everyone on our trip.

We used:
Chanterelle mushrooms
Water
White wine vinegar
Salt
Sugar
Black peppercorns
Dried thyme
Juniper berries (lightly crushed, not demolished 😉)

Come back soon to see how they turned out! 🍄‍🟫🥒

Who doesn’t like pickles?! 😉🥒😂

They deserve to be at least bopped over the head with Mr Pickle! That should knock some sense into them?

We think if you (think) you don’t love pickles, it’s just because you haven’t tried the right pickles yet. Not all pickles are created equal!

He’s not a beauty influencer, just very committed to pickles (and a good sport for being persuaded to do this!) 😂

We are obsessed with all things pickle here and so obviously when @elfcosmeticsuk brought out pickle lip balms, I wanted them! 🥒 👄

They came out last year but sold out really quick and so when they came back recently I bought them straight away!

The green one is The Real Dill which looks alarmingly green in the tube but really nice on the lips and a good smell of pickles. The red one is Spicy Lil Dill and as you can see does come out quite red! Nice though and again smells pickly!

They are still available @bootsuk if you want them and if you buy 2 you get a free little pickle bag charm to hold them in!

Not all mushrooms can be pickled and not all should be picked!

We went foraging specifically for the chanterelle mushrooms (the big yellow/orange ones) as we knew we wanted to try pickling them in honour of being in the Scottish Highlands! More coming this week on how we did that and how they turned out.

As it was UK Fungus Day yesterday we wanted to share a few of the other beauties we saw. So pretty 🍄

They may look amazing but a lot are toxic so if you are going foraging, make sure you go with someone who knows what they are doing (which we did!).

Finally… it’s soup season! 🥒 🥣

We love pickle anything here, so that obviously includes pickle soup 😉

Really though, I do have a great pickle soup (real pickle soup!) recipe which I will make and post here as it’s so good!

Chanterelle mushroom foraging in the Scottish Highlands ❤️

We found so many! Watch to the end to see the haul!

We have cleaned them (which is the worst part when there are so many!) and will be pickling some, so come back for that reel later this week 🥒 🍄‍🟫

If you name your place Pickles, we will find you!

This bar in Edinburgh is called Pickles and so obviously a must visit from us on our Scotland trip!

It was really lovely inside - good food and good vibes.

Although, for somewhere called Pickles, we were (as Pickle People) a little disappointed there were not more pickles on the menu, but we still loved it.

Have you got any pickle place recommendations in Scotland?

We are off to the Highlands in Scotland this week and, as so many of you loved him at The Big Brine pickle festival recently, we are taking Mr Pickle with us 🥒

We’ve got some pickle places and foraging on the itinerary and some Scottish-inspired pickle recipes planned. Mr Pickle is dressed for the occasion and Bear Pickles is officially on tour 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Can you guess what we are planning to pickle? 👀

Welcome back to The Pickle Edit 🥒

Our series of facts, notes, details, and all things pickle and ferments.

Our next fact - Pickle juice helps with muscle cramps! And it’s not just about the electrolytes 👀

Research suggests the sharp, sour hit of pickle juice triggers a nerve reflex in the mouth and throat, which may help tell cramping muscles to relax.

Another reason not to throw away the brine. 💚

That’s our Bear Pickles pink pickle juice being poured in the reel, which tastes as good as it looks!

I have linked the last reel from the series The Pickle Edit #2 in case you missed it.

Pickle people, please tell me you get it?!!

Diet Coke. Pickle juice. A whole pickle as a stirrer 🥒🥤

This pickle Diet Coke is everywhere since Dua Lipa made it go viral but the Pickle People already get it (I don’t know what all the fuss is about, it’s a staple)!

The non pickle people are horrified (but probably only because they haven’t tried it 😂🤪)!

Great hangover cure too!

Would you try it, or have we gone too far? 😂 Let us know in the comments👇

I wouldn’t tell you I had won the lottery… but there would be signs!

Pickle People will understand 🥒😂

We have a LOT of pickles in our fridge anyway (obviously!) but I want a separate pickle fridge in our house.
