Eat for Impact is a community-led initiative where local restaurants, grocers and cafes serve creative, climate-friendly specials all month long. Every dish you try is a simple way to support local businesses and connect your food choices to the planet.

New this year: the Eat for Impact Passport. Pick one up at any participating location or download your own at eatforimpact.org/detroit. We'll send you a survey to log your actions, and everyone who participates gets a free prize in the mail.

What if making a more sustainable choice didn’t mean changing your entire diet — just choosing one meal differently?

@eatforimpact is back in Detroit for its second year, with six local restaurants serving up special plant-based dishes designed to make sustainable eating approachable, delicious and easy to try.

And you definitely don’t have to be vegan to participate. In fact, 75% of diners who took part in Detroit’s 2025 initiative were not exclusively plant-based eaters.

Last year, those choices added up. Eat for Impact estimates its Detroit restaurant specials generated nearly $50,000 in sales while saving approximately 16,805 kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions, 1.9 million liters of water and 21,267 meters of land.

This year, Detroiters can try dishes including a Jerk-Marinated Cauliflower Steak at Ivy Kitchen & Cocktails (@ivy_detroit), a Harvest Bowl at The Kitchen by @cookingwithque and a Buffalo Cauliflower Wrap at @avalonbakerycafe.

The idea is simple: you don’t have to overhaul the way you eat to make an impact. Sometimes, it starts with what you order for lunch.

NYC is taking a bite out of climate change this week 🌱

I stopped by @le_botaniste to try their $20 Taste of Climate Week meal deal. Quinoa fusilli pasta bolognese, herb oil, and a turmeric agave lemonade on the side. Simple, delicious, with clean ingredients!

This is all part of @eatforimpact’s Taste of Climate Week: NYC, a citywide initiative connecting diners with climate-friendly specials at participating restaurants across the city from September 20th - 27th. Check out their website for more info!

Eat for Impact (@eatforimpact) is making it easier to explore climate friendly food options across Detroit 🌱

During the campaign, local restaurants, coffee shops and grocery stores are featuring special dishes and products that support more sustainable eating.

So I stopped by Brooklyn Street Local (@brooklynstreetlocal) to try their Seasonal Soba Salad and Eggplant Caponata.

You can also participate with the Eat for Impact Passport, track your progress and enter for a chance to win prizes.
