Elevator no. 262: Kourosh Ashtary (@kou_ashtary) is the founder of EatFree (@eatfree.io), a platform that helps people with food allergies and dietary restrictions safely eat at restaurants. DMV born and raised, dog dad of two, and a fellow Terp, Kourosh went undiagnosed for 15 years and was hospitalized five times for anaphylactic shock in college. After stints at Deloitte and Carnival, he walked away from a director-level promotion to build the tool he wished he had. In this episode of the Elevation Nation Podcast: •Why he left the corporate ladder, and why he calls the desk job the scarier option now •The pivot from a “Yelp for food allergies” app to QR codes on restaurant menus •Leaning on his best friend Jorge and protecting his marriage from startup stress •Why there’s no perfect route, only your route #Mindset #Food #Allergies #Motivation #Podcast by @eatfree.io

Food allergies are a real concern, but can restaurants realistically accommodate everyone? 🍽️ For Kourosh Ashtary, the challenge lies in bridging the gap between what the allergy community needs and what restaurants can actually provide. It's not just about making dining more accessible. It's about helping restaurants be transparent about their capabilities while saving time, attracting more guests, and growing their business. Because creating a better dining experience should work for both sides. 🔗 Learn more about Eat Free: https://eatfree.io/ @eatfree.io #FutureOfTheFork #EatFree #FoodAllergies #RestaurantIndustry #HospitalityInnovation #FoodSafety #RestaurantBusiness #InclusiveDining by @eatfree.io
Some of the best business ideas start with a problem you can't ignore. After eight years in corporate finance, Kou Ashtary began questioning where his career was taking him. He had a problem he couldn't find a solution for and realized countless others were facing the same challenge. That realization led him to build Eat Free. 🎙️ On Future of the Fork, Kourosh shares what pushed him to turn a personal struggle into a business with a bigger purpose. 🔗 Visit: https://eatfree.io/ @eatfree.io #FutureOfTheFork #EatFree #Entrepreneurship #FounderJourney #BusinessWithPurpose by @eatfree.io

He built @eatfree.io because nobody should have to do the math anymore. Because eating safely isn’t a luxury. It’s a right.
