Finally tried the bánh mì chảo from @phe.nyc. This was a weekend only pop up with this upcoming weekend being the last week you can try this dish out. There’s always a line, and even during the recent noreaster the line went down the block! Typically they have both indoor and outdoor seating but due to the weather there was only indoor seating. I lined up 40 minutes prior to opening and I was 3rd in line. I got seated and since they only serve one dish here, they only give you a drink menu. I was seated immediately and the food came out after 10-15 minutes.

This dish is pretty similar to Bo ne, with only the protein being different. Some spots in nyc serve Bo ne, so if you miss out don’t be too sad. Personally I really enjoyed this meal as it was so flavorful and delicious. Everyone’s gonna say it’s too expensive that it’s way cheaper in Vietnam. I mean EVERYTHING IS CHEAPER IN VIETNAM, do we look like we’re in Vietnam 😂😂😂.

They give you unlimited bread so don’t be afraid to eat it all and ask for more. This was my first time eating this dish and there’s really no wrong or right way to eat it. Sometimes I ate bites with all the components, sometimes I mixed and matched. The best bite was with the butt of the bread where I made a well with all the ingredients for the perfect bite. I left full and very satisfied.

Always on the look out for new ayce KBBQ spots! For me I love ayce spots because of the bountiful options all for a flat fee. Today I’m checking out @blacksmithbbqny . They’re located in bayside queens and have been open for about 6 months now. It’s about $44/pp but you save a few dollars if you pay cash.

In addition to the various meat selections, they also have tons of soups and sides you can order.

Recently checked out the newly opened @goodtimebuffet from the same owners of @kisarestaurant & @c.asincharlie .

The owners grew up in Atlanta and wanted to bring a little of their childhood to nyc, which resulted in this newly opened southern style buffet. Dinner is only $27 per person, but you can also add on unlimited fountain drinks including sweet tea for $4. They do have other drink options like a peach slush which I did not try.

You can find options like fried chicken, mashed potato’s, Mac and cheese, cornbread, collard greens, meat loaf, hush puppies, and more.

They’ve been opened for less than 2 weeks so they’re still ironing out a few kinks so make sure to be patient with them. If you don’t feel like waiting to dine in, I’d def recommend the take out option with allows you to fill up the container size of your choice with as many options as long as you can close it. This is definitely a great option if you don’t see yourself eating many rounds of food.

My favorites here were the collard greens, mashed potatoes, buffalo wings, and hush puppies. The fried chicken and meat loaf were also great. They had dessert options like banana pudding, cobbler, and a type of hot fudge but none were my type of desserts. The hot fudge really confused me the most because it was like a partially baked cake batter. It was kinda grainy, and while my friend enjoyed it, it wasn’t for me. Interestingly they changed it to a brownie now so I can’t help but wonder if it was supposed to be a brownie all along that never got fully baked 😂.

You really can’t find a buffet for this value anywhere in nyc. The food quality was great and everything is basically self service. The staff didn’t quite check up on my table often, but they were easy to flag down and very nice.

If you were upset @costco discontinued their churros, then you better hit up your local Costco ASAP, because they’re now back for a limited time! I grew up eating these all the time so it was super nostalgic to get it again. I swear these used to be 50 cents when I was younger but for 1.50 in the current economy it’s still an amazing deal.

Not saying it’s one of the best churros out there but it’s pretty solid for the accessibility and price point. Hopefully they bring back the combo pizza too even if it’s for a limited time đŸ„Č.

One of my go to spots for Gopchang aka korean style intestines is @gopchangstory_flushing.

I’ve been here a few times and both the quality and flavor have been consistent. If you’ve never had Gopchang before, I recommend starting out with the assorted Gopchang so you can see which one you like best. I love the marinaded versions, as I find it’s more flavorful. I’m not sure what power they add on top but it’s always an umami bomb.

If Gopchang isn’t for you (which for many it isnt) they still have a large menu that isn’t revolved around Gopchang. Currently they have a big 2 get 1 deal on their samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) for $70. It includes the 6 huge slabs seen in my video, as well as a side of soybean stew.

While waiting for my meats to cook, I like to order their seafood pancake, naengmyeon, and steam egg. Interestingly they have an option to get an XXXL steam egg. I was definitely intrigued but maybe I’ll check it out next time 😂😂.

Be sure to save room for the fried rice. It’s slightly spicy and super flavorful. I always have to add cheese and it’s just sooo delicious! I wish they served it mid meal so I could eat it with everything else.

As a salted egg lover, the salted egg pumpkin from @cheli.nyc was one of my favorite bites of 2026. It’s both salty and sweet, I was addicted at first bite.

First time visiting @cheli.nyc, even though they’ve been open for a while with locations in both manhattan and flushing. They specialize in Shanghainese food. Often when I think of Shanghainese food I default to XLB (aka soup dumplings). It was nice to try different items off the menu that I typically wouldn’t order.

Pictured above:

Always looking for a new dessert spot and happened to find this cafe called “Jin Xi ä»ŠçŠ§çł–æ°Žé“ș“ in flushing. I couldn’t find their instagram so you will just have to google the name.

They have both a savory and sweet menu, but I only came here for the dessert menu. The dessert offering is pretty similar to yuanyang on prince st, but I will admit the prices here are slightly less. All of the desserts here have beautiful presentation.

During my visit I got the $12 matcha snowflake yogurt snowflake ice, $9 mango taro bowl (I think), and the $8 butterfly pea mango sticky rice.

The matcha yogurt snowflake ice had tons of topping. The bear and the paw topping were both matcha yogurt flavored. The cream on top was also like a whipped yogurt topping. Personally I wasn’t a fan of the cream topping but I did enjoy the rest of the dessert. I will say that the matcha flavor could be stronger but for the price point I was content. Next visit I definitely want to try the Thai tea one.

The mango taro bowl was a standard Cantonese style dessert.it had mangoes, taro paste, black sticky rice, taro & yam balls, and osmanthus jelly. It comes with sweetened coconut milk. These kind of dessert are my some of my favorites to order. My only gripe is that I wish the coconut milk was more chilled, otherwise I really enjoyed it and would get it again.

The mango sticky rice was pretty standard, however I with the mango was sweeter. The dessert as a whole is not super sweet, which could be fixed if they added a sweetened coconut milk sauce to the rice as well like most places do. The coconut sauce was similar to the previous dessert in taste and consistency so it didn’t add much seeetness. Perhaps if they sweeten and thicken the sauce it would be much better.

Overall I really liked the spot and I would go back to try other menu items. It’s a nice alternative as there was no wait when I went.

@wafelsanddinges is iconic in nyc for their Belgium liege waffles! I would always visit their Bryant park kiosk for them.

This was my first time visiting one of their actual store fronts and I was pleasant surprised to see they also had a ton of savory options.

I got their watermelon lemonade to start which was nice and refreshing.
I ordered the je suis monsier le croque & the southern waffle and dinges to start. I thought the monsieur le croque was not bad but for some it can be a little nutmeg heavy. My favorite had to be the southern dinges and waffles which was their take on chicken and waffles. The chicken was great and was so good with their waffles.

If you’ve never had a liege waffle before, it’s a fluffy but slightly chewy waffle that’s coated with caramelized sugar.

How I prep my frozen minced garlic squares! For reference I use an 11 cup food processor. I do 1lb at a time because sometimes if you do too much garlic at a time the garlic isn’t as uniform and you maybe have random large chunks.

I use pre peeled garlic for convenience but if you prefer to self peel that is fine too.

If you don’t want your garlic to be super fine, use the pulse feature and slowly pulse your garlic until your desired size. Scrape the edges to ensure everything is getting chopped as uniformly as possible. As always you might have a few pieces that might not be as uniform. If you don’t want to use the back side of a knife anything with a thin blunt edge like a ruler will work.

Always store these flat when freezing so that it keeps its shape. You can stack them when freezing, just make sure not to press down on it. Keep in mind that when using the garlic will be softer when it defrosts. So if you want garlic for the texture make sure you keep it fresh.

Other things I will also freeze are diced onions & sliced scallions. These are great to prep and freeze if you don’t care for its texture.

*note: anything you store next to these may absorb the garlic odor 😂😂*

I filmed this a few months ago in the spring which is why I have a hoodie on 😅.

I’ve seen @nenestaqueria on my feed for a LONGGGGGG time. When I found out they had an Astoria location I made a trip ASAP. I love birria but not many places add cheese to it. I always felt like the cheese made it 10xs better but that’s just me. When I saw they had a HUGEEEE birria pizza (quesadilla) I needed it.

For $32 I thought the portion was huge and absolutely loaded with beef. Definitely worth getting to share it eating over several meals. They have tons of other items on their menu as well so I need to go back soon to try out more.

They have several locations so find one near you and check them out!

Finally made a visit to @rokstarchicken ‘s first brick and mortar location! I’ve been supporting them since their first location in Douglaston queens in the food bazaar (which is still there!). I love that after all this time the quality, flavor and consistency is still just as amazing if not even better.

They’re pretty much in every borough now except Brooklyn (and SI I guessss 😂) so there’s no excuse to not try them! Most of the menu is also halal friendly. You can find them in the south bronx, LIC, Harlem, Douglaston queens, & near NYU. My favorite are their boneless chicken thighs, bone in wings, honey butter fries, and fried shrimp. All dipped into their jalapeño mayo which I am so addicted to.

For something sweet I love their fried cheese balls which are chewy, cheesy and slightly sweet.

Found this ice cream in 99ranch and I had to give it a try 😂. I’ve never seen this flavor combo before and honestly it wasn’t great!! Maybe it was the icyness, but overall I wasn’t a fan of the flavor. If you decide to try it out let me know if you like it or not 😂.
