Crêperie Bande à Part - Silvanstraße 1, 50678 Köln Pancakes for dinner or should I say Galettes… big juicy Galettes for that matter with a pinch of well dressed leafy side salad. We bumped into a wild street cat on Vickys top who had travelled all the way from France and his wise suggestion lead us to enjoy teacups of cider & savoury crepes. Both Vicky & Alice went for the spinach & mushroom. Konrad settled for the very traditional, cheese, ham & egg. This is not the cheapest crêpe place out there, that’s for sure but the portions were extremely generous & our tummy’s were satisfied for the rest of the night. The trés trés chic interior really puts you into that French mindset , if you could smoke inside, give us endless wine & cider and we’d be speaking fluent Français in no time. If you’re looking for a traditional french crêpe / galette spot in Köln, this is it ! Rating - Alice 8/10 - Konrad 8.5/10 - Vicky 7.8 /10 #crepes #köln #foodspot #frenchfood by @eatme5000
EatMe5000 silent movie edition. Χύμα και τσουβαλάτα, Δον Ι. Στεφάνου, Ano Siros 841 00, Greece If you’re lucky enough to have been walking the streets of Ano Syros, you’ll know how difficult it is to find your way. But if you do get the chance to stop by this Souvlaki spot we would highly recommend you do. In our humble gyros / pita / souvlaki loving opinion you could quite literally eat this every night. Juicy, crispy, fresh and as it should be very very reasonably priced. Having tried all they have to offer apart from the vegan lentil kebab which we have heard raving reviews about, we are more than happy to give this spot a 10/10 Atmosphere is chill, location is beautiful, music consists of only bangers, the cats are friendly and of course the food doesn’t disappoint in any way shape or form. Shoutout to Giorgos & Artemis it wouldn’t have been the same experience without you. #anosyros #souvlaki #pita #greekfood #syros by @eatme5000
@belegte_brotstangen - Roonstraße 106, 50674 Köln Who would have thought such a small shop could make such big sandwiches… not us… until we had one. We kept it close to home here Konrad went for the Deutschland & Alice went got the England, to represented our nations in full force. These sandwiches are big enough to have enough food for lunch & dinner, Alice can never finish it in one sitting. The bread is fresh & fluffy with a crispy outside. The sauce selection is well rounded & the options for fillings are endless. Price to quantity ratio is pleasing on the wallet. If you’re looking for a sandwich which is going to last you the day, this is the place to go. Have added a photo of the menu so you can see for yourself. Alice was highly impressed with the salad inside her sandwich, which she felt accompanied the meatballs well. Konrads highlight was the fact they had Juppi sauce which made the Hähnchenschnitzel even better. We’ve been here 3 times now and we will go here another 5000 times. #sandwich #colognefood #cologne #foodreview by @eatme5000
@fatisbackfisch - Pasteurstraße 1, 50735 Nippes Köln Konrad - the batter was not to think nor too thin, it had a nice subtle crisp to it & complemented the fish well along with the remoulade, which their could have been a bit more of. To be fair they were extremely busy & didn’t want to bother them with asking them for more. Potato salad was solid, glad it was mayo based like a good old erpelschlot should be. I very much enjoyed the kibbeling off Alice’s plate, they were delicious little bites - 8.5/10 Alice - Juicy, juicy, juicy. Does more need to be said ? Yes. The fish bits (kibbeling) were so righteously crispy yet tender on the inside. The calamari as soft as could be, not a hit on rubber in sight. The chips had a moorish flavour, while rating well on my personal crispness scale. Now, that salad, the dressing great, the variety it held, exceptional. The tiny bits of apples, the red cabbage, but really the showstopper for me the samphire (queller) it gave the feel of a Michelin star spot. Bloody good fish & chips if I do say so myself - 9/10 #fishandchips #köln #foodcologne by @eatme5000
@_pitaria_ , Bonner Wall 112 50677 Köln Konrad - 9.5 / 10 - Would have been a 10 if Kosta didn’t compare him to Zarbex 🤣 Lachs was a solid choice, and just like that a whole new world of fish kebab entered the chat. The classic remoulade sauce took him back to moments of his childhood. Just him, a box of fish fingers, a bottle of remoulade & not a worry in the world. So yeh it was a pretty damn good pita. Alice 9.5 / 10 - It’s not everyday you eat a fish in a pita, especially not in these parts. Really, the fish was the perfect balance of crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. While eyeing up other people’s salads that looked like a whole meal in itself, all fish and all pita was devoured in the most appetising manner. Not only will we be back to order everything on the menu, but this is the new go to spot. Vegetarian options also available #kölnfood #greekfood #pita #foodreview by @eatme5000
@indian.dhabakoeln Frankfurter Straße 37 in Mülheim Trust us when we say THIS is da spot friends. The lovely couple behind the counter is cooking up da real deal indian food that makes you dream of butter chicken and mango lassie all night long. Konrad - rating - solid 10/10 as always Konrad got his regular, the aforementioned Butter Chicken with rice. you can tell the bossman can cook this one blind with one hand. rich taste, has a slight sweetness to it that rounds up the flavour perfectly. overall just smooth and obviously buttery and slightly spicy, but in a way that even an alman like Konrad can handle. just writing about it makes me hungry again, thats the spirit we here at eatme5000 are looking for in a dish! Alice - rating - 9/10 - probably isn't fair because she grew up in the little india of London but for German indian standards this is a 10/10. Alice tucked into Aloo Gobi, it was just as delicous as everthing else that we have tried from the menu but Konrads go to butter chicken takes top place always. A main dish for €7.50 & starter for €4.50 is crazy value for money. Don't forget if you're in Mülheim make sure to come here, at least for some chicken or aloo plalak pakora. by @eatme5000
Le Jardin Bad Honnef, Rheinpromenade 5, 53604 Bad Honnef Special family edition, pre wedding meal tryout and it did not disappoint. Konrad - 9.5 / 10 - jus was very rich, the finest form of bbq flavour one could delight themselves with. The meat of the short rib was tender and juicy, every bite an excitement full of slow cooked tastyness. The potatoe purée fried to a waffle and garnished with grilled leek accompanied the meaty protagonist perfectly and rounded of the dish very well. Jutta - 8.5 / 10 - good smell good taste, simply but delicious, but a special shoutout and 11/10 rating for the nut butter served with warm rosemary focaccia. Despite the name there wasn’t actually any nuts in it, which we couldn’t quite comprehend but nevertheless it was a showstopper. Hans-Martin - 9/10 - black garlic mayo sauce was wow the pulpo was WOW bit too much coriander Alice - 8 / 10 - I’ve had better meals but I think I picked the wrong dish or maybe it was the lack of vegetables on my plate and my dislike of coleslaw. But honestly the chicken was perfectly juicy and the batter was delightful crispy, I mean if you can’t make fried chicken don’t brother calling yourself a restaurant. Definitely the best fried chicken / top 3 meals I’ve had in Germany. For the wedding meal I’ll go for fish I think. My special shoutout goes to the largest blackberry I’ve ever seen in my life (see last photo) by @eatme5000
Tischlein deck dich, Mauenheimer Str. 11, 50733 Köln 8/10 - Alice 9/10 - Konrad If you know Alice you should know she has a serious obsession with Greece, who knows maybe she was she was a gyros in her past life. Anyway we were happy to stumble across this “Greekish” imbiss after a work heavy weekend and satisfied our hungry with perfectly grilled meat, chips and tzatziki. The meat was tender and juicy, the salad was well seasoned & had a slight sweetness to it. The garlic levels in the tzatziki were just right and the chips had the ideal kinda crunch. Even though they served traditional Greek food, Alice was not 100% convinced as she strongly believes Gyros should be served with tomato’s and Germans love to ruin everything with sauerkraut. But honestly we will be back here. #eatme500 #greekfood #kölnfood #foodreview by @eatme5000
Trash-Chic Wiersbergstrasse 31 51103 Better late then never, it was a couple months ago when we gathered as 6 to all eat exactly the same plate, the German Ruhrpott traditional dish of ‘Taxiteller’ (in vegan form) - for those who are unfamiliar with such delight its literally gyros meat, currywurst & chips with a generous serving of tzatziki, garnished with raw onions. The following reviews come from our fellow pals… As always—as we like to say in Germany—it was köstlich schmöchtlich. The roasted aromas of the perfectly grilled gyros wrapped themselves around the taste buds, while the curry sauce and tzatziki danced a joyful tango, lifting the entire flavor experience into uncharted realms of pleasure. Sharing this moment with my favorite companions made it even more special (dog-friendly too!). The only downside: afterwards, you smell more like a deep fryer than an actual deep fryer. Rating: 9/10 - Sammy & Mai We asked ourselves whether you would prefer a wet or dry taxi plate. To explain: a wet taxi plate comes with an extra portion of mayo. Julia opted for the wet one and Jonas for the dry one. Both were delicious, but of course not pottgetreu because they were vegan. Unfortunately, despite showering and changing clothes completely, you still smell of old grease the next day, which unfortunately means points off. Julia 8/10, Jonas 7/10. #taxiteller #vegan #kölnfood by @eatme5000
ngon ngon on maybachstraße 152 Ngon Ngon, i don't know what that means or how to pronounce it. But as they say in vietnam GOOD MORNING. Achso. We warmed up our taste buds with some summer rolls aka see-through burritos. Fresh, crisp and lecker lecker. We were spolit for choice with their vast selection of authentic viatnamese cusine. After a long processing period we settled on Pho & some mysterious baked bean tasting "curry" (alice's opinion) which was actually a sweet peanut sauce. very leng! they couldve served it with a bit more rice, no need to be stingy with that! But serving it in an extra bowl made it kind of a special eating experience. The crispy duck defenitely was the main man of the evening. Although Alice was kinda scared of it (too much fat on the meat). The broth of the Pho was pretty bland and in general an underwelming dish, especially when it is such a Vietnamese classic. Plus a piece of the chicken, once again, scared Alice coz it looked like a bum hole. 6/10 overall rating after some discussion between the 2 admins of this page. The Pho bringing it down by lot. Special mention: The selfmade Peach Ice Tea! by @eatme5000
Harvey's Breakfast Club @eatharveys (pop-up) We were lucky enough to catch South London's hottest new brunch spot's first pop-up in Tooting. Of course we had to try the whole menu (it was only three items & less is more, innit). 👍 The 'Seoul Sweet Heat' Bagel was a savory, slightly spicy & sweet mix of daringly delectible flavors. Generous servings of bacon, hashbrown, egg and cheese, squeezed into an everything bagel from @banookbagels This should be a staple 8/10 Next up was Alice's personal fave the 'Baja Brekki Burrito'. A twist on a Mexican classic - The Burrtio - but made for breakfast lovers. Pretty much the same ingredients as the above but swap that bacon for juicy chopped up chorizo, add some avo and slap some limey sauce on there. 8.5/10 Honestley if the wrap was a bit more robust than your simple tortilla it would be a straight 11/10 Now you can't forget to leave without Harvey's iconic Saigon Coffee Bun. Okay, it might not be iconic yet because they only opened today, but you heard it here 1st, it will be! @eatharveys is going to be popping up every Sunday from 9AM to 12PM at Panda's Coffee House, 84 Balham High Rd, SW12 9AG - only for the next 6 weeks as we heard, so be quick! by @eatme5000
Pizzeria Totò e Peppino, Hansaring 119, 50670 Köln @pizzeriatotoepeppino_koeln Now thats what we call Pizza Napolenta. We ordered and our food was on the table within 5 mins, bearing in mind it was a very busy Saturday evening. Thats how Pizza should be. Fast, Thin & Delicious. Konrad went for Pizza Cippetto, topped with lilac potato creme, zuchnni flowers & smoked pancetta, it was a true beauty. 8.5/10 Alice had Pizza Nonna Castagna, simply fried auburgine, tomato sauce & cheese. Simple Pizza is the best kinda pizza in her opinion. Hand for size reference. 8/10 We will be back... probaly quite often. #kölnfood #pizzanapoletana #pizzaria #kölnfoodguide #ilovepizza #pizzatime #pizzalover by @eatme5000
