The Obama family has been part of EATO’s journey from the very beginning.

As young founders, we were inspired by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama’s belief that leadership, community, and service can change lives. Their example showed a generation of people around the world that ordinary individuals can build extraordinary things.

In many ways, that same belief sits at the heart of EATO.

The opening of the Obama Presidential Center is more than the launch of a building. It is a celebration of possibility, a reminder that ideas matter, communities matter, and that each of us has the power to leave a lasting impact.

We hope one day many members of the EATO community will have the opportunity to visit this remarkable space and experience its mission firsthand.

Congratulations to President Obama, Mrs Obama, and everyone who helped bring this vision to life.

A major leadership moment in global finance.

St. James’s Place has appointed Justin Onuekwusi as CEO, Investments, marking another significant step in an already distinguished career spanning more than two decades in investment management.

With Nigerian and Grenadian heritage, Justin’s appointment is also a powerful representation moment for communities that remain underrepresented at the highest levels of finance.

Beyond his corporate career, Justin is the founder of @encirclementoring, a mentoring community designed to help professionals navigate their careers through access to peers, role models and senior leaders across financial and professional services. Its monthly mentoring circles focus on sharing experience, building networks and helping the next generation progress.

He has also founded the Black Leaders Programme in conjunction with the Investment Association and Diversity Project, reflecting a long-standing commitment to improving representation and progression within the industry.

Congratulations, Justin — a brilliant next chapter, and an important example of leadership that creates space for others too. 👏🏾

EbonyLife is coming to London. @ebonylifeplacelondon 🎬

Founded by Nigerian media entrepreneur Mo Abudu, EbonyLife Place London marks an important expansion of the Lagos-born cultural brand into the UK.

Located on Wandsworth Road in South London, the venue is positioned as a dedicated home for African and Black film, culture and storytelling — bringing African creativity, talent and perspectives to a wider global audience.

For us, this is bigger than a cinema opening. It is another step towards building the institutions and cultural spaces that allow African stories to be seen, valued and experienced on their own terms.

The official launch takes place on 8 October 2026, with the opening event by invitation. Public opening details are expected to follow.

🇳🇬 Happy Independence Day, Nigeria.

66 years on, Nigeria’s greatest strength remains its people — the builders, creators, entrepreneurs, athletes, professionals, market women and communities who continue to move the nation forward.

As the proverb reminds us, one tree does not make a forest.

We are called to build together. To strengthen our institutions. To support enterprise. To create opportunities. To invest in our communities. To preserve our culture. And to leave a stronger Nigeria for the generations coming behind us.

There is still much work to do, but nation-building has never belonged to one person, one government or one generation.

Together, we build Nigeria. 🇳🇬

Happy 66th Independence Day.

Everyone is talking about the Dangote Refinery IPO. But this moment is much bigger than the IPO.

For decades, Africa has exported raw materials, watched value get created elsewhere, and then bought the finished products back.

The Dangote Refinery challenges that model.

This is refining, processing, industrial capacity and regional trade being built on African soil, at global scale. It is proof of what can happen when African ambition is matched with African execution.

And that is why this matters beyond fuel.

It shows that some of the continent’s biggest structural problems do not always need to be solved from outside. We can build. We can finance. We can process. We can trade. We can create more value at home.

As Kwame Nkrumah said:

“We face neither East nor West: we face forward.”

That feels especially relevant now.

This may prove to be one of the defining industrial moments of modern Africa.

The IPO is one conversation.

What the refinery represents for African self-belief, industrialisation and economic sovereignty is the much bigger one.
