how to rate your meals (food you $ for)

Firstly, I’m grateful for every bite, and feel privileged to have eating is my favorite hobby.

So this is how I enjoy EVERY meal I pay for, while still keeping it real!!

My foodie credentials include:
- i live to eat
- i currently live in 📍NYC
- i’ve travelled to 35 countries 🌏and counting!
- i will try EVERYTHING at least once
- my top 5 favorite cuisines are spanish, thai, japanese, greek, mexican

The scale is applicable for EVERYONE but remember taste is SO subjective. Food is like art - there’s certainly bad food, and there’s certainly good food. But HOW GOOD is up for interpretation…this is where the fun begins. Remember taste is shaped by our own memories, culture, and stories. Therefore, you gotta take all the foodie recommendations (even mine) with a grain of salt. Don’t trust everything you see on the internet, so if you can, you MUST go find out yourself.

And with that, I hope I inspire you to go on a food adventure :)

[Part 30] Jungsik (3 Michelin ⭐️)

My Ratings:
🍴Food: 8.9/10
- ALMOST everything is VERY good, serious quality, i would without a doubt come back (if someone else wants to pay heh)
- favorite starters:
- KONG GUK soy bean soup with truffle pearls
- YUN-DUBU tofu with perilla oil FOEI GRAS BAESOOK,
- favorite mains:
- STRIPED JACK fish is fresh, broth is smoky, caviar and fermented tomato is umami, kimchi bits are crunchy
- OCTOPUS tender and has the most delicate fry to make the skin crispy, aioli is the perfect pairing
- ARCTIC CHAR tender and delicate meat, crispiest skin, perilla oil with smoked trout row is rich and savory
- YELLOWTAIL will forever be one of my favorite raw fish, served on a fun little cigar shaped seaweed with rice and radish kimchi inside
- favorite dessert: DOLHAREUBANG because it’s so whimsical and cute and tastes good since i love any nutty icecream flavors
🍸Drinks: 8/10
- WINE sauvignon Blanc/ sémillon Bordeaux Blanc Francel
✨Ambience: 8/10
- polished and sophisticated
- utilizes traditional korean symbols and designs
🤵Service: 9/10
- very good and attentive
- they give you seaweed soup for your bday (a tradition to eat!)

[PT 37] Estela (1 Michelin ⭐️)

My Ratings:
🍴Food: 8.7/10
- 8.7 = everything is very good, serious quality, without a doubt come back
- BEEF TARTARE with elderberries is so fresh and i love the crunchy sunchokes
- MACKEREL flavors and textured married together so subtly,
- ARROZ NEGRA just the right amount of crunchy, sticky, and seafoody
- BERKSHIRE PORK so savory, tender, balanced by clean tasting vin jaune
- RICOTTA DUMPLINGS soggy in a good way, soak mushrooms in soup for perfect bite, least standout of the dishes though
- GELATO perfect + buckwheat adds that honeynut cheerio flavor
🍸Drinks: 7/10
- good wine
✨Ambience: 7/10
- not fussy & slightly rustic
🤵Service: 8/10
- good!
- very knowledgable waiter; answered all our questions very confidently

my honest thoughts on 📍Oriana - new restaurant in Soho

My Ratings:
🍴Food: 6/10
- 6 = tasty, have suggestions for improvement, would come back for 1-2 menu items
- standout: ORIANA WALDORF is very good endive salad, so many layers to texture and flavor
- PORKCHOP tender and with an interesting black mustard
- MAITAKE i genuinely don’t think you can ever go wrong with grilled mushrooms
- BREAD hot and fluffy, good
- OYSTERS i love the basil oil, but some oysters need to be less fishy
- CHICKEN tender breast, but leg needs to be tender as well, and we don’t need the soggy bread underneath
- CHARRED BROCCOLINI tastes blanched/wet, needs the char
- POTATO inside mash is so heavenly, but the potato itself needs to be cooked more
- BEE STING CAKE light and easy to share
- STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING is truly sticky and sweet
🍸Drinks: -/10
- didn’t drink
✨Ambience: 10/10
- intimate and very design-forward
- i love the open kitchen glowing with live fire
🤵Service: 7/10
