📍 Mr. J Escape Room | Richmond, BC If you like the idea of playing through a real life horror game, you HAVE to check out Mr. J Escape Room. It’s totally different from others in Vancouver, an extremely immersive experience, everything from the plot, acting (featuring a live NPC), setting and sound and lighting were extremely well done. Absolutely immaculate horror vibes, 10/10 would scare myself again. 📍 Aman Chicken | Surrey, BC A bit of a late post- I to try out Aman Chicken in Surrey a while ago. The dishes I enjoyed the most were: • Fish Pakora - Best dish of the night and the one I genuinely recommend. The fish was smooth and flakey on the inside with a super flavorful crust. Basically good fish cooked perfectly. The tartar sauce was delicious too • Chicken Pudina - An interesting mint flavoured sauce on grilled chicken. Definitely a unique dish • Off-Menu Wrap - A decent, satisfying dish! 📍 Tandoori King Kitchen & Bar | Richmond, BC I’ve been to Tandoori King many, many times! It's easily one of my favourite indian restaurants in Metro Vancouver, so I was very excited to come for a tasting. ☺️ Got to try a ton of new dishes, and have some old favourites as wel. The dishes I enjoyed the most were: • Shahi Paneer - The flavour of this is out of this world. Like seriously so good, have had this many many timea. PS. I get paneer because cheese never dries out like chicken (also I just like cheese) • Lamb Korma - Heavy on the lamb flavour & portions too, well worth the price for lamb lovers • Deep Fried Momo - a great appetizer, crispy on the outside and full of savory goodness All in all, an excellent choice for a delicious Indian cuisine. 📍 Burger Crush | Vancouver, BC Been wanting to try this place forever and it did not disappoint. 👏 The burger was pretty good- juicy patty, fancy bun, tasty sauce, well executed overall. Their fries were okay, but what really impressed me was the vegan milkshake! Now it was definitely on the sweet side (which I personally like lol) but couldn’t tell it was vegan at all and it was delicious!!!! Highly recommend it even if you aren’t vegan. 📍 Goldentime BBQ | Richmond, BC Super late post- I’ve always wanted to try this type of rotating skewer Chinese BBQ so I was super excited to try this little place in Richmond ☺️ Most of the food was quite good- the meats especially! There was one cut of lamb in particular (the bigger chunk in my reel) that was amazing. The enoki dish and fried rice were quite good too! Dessert was basically a Melona bar per the video haha. They have your classic honeydew and one other flavour I can’t recall. 📍Marble House Eatery | Burnaby, BC I may not post about it often but I do love me some hotpot, so this spot was a must try. With over 80 menu and self serve items to choose from, and slush drinks, there’s definitely something for everyone at Marble House. The beef was decent quality, but the variety in the self serve section also really impressed me. 😃 So many different kinds of veggies and fish balls, and of course, desserts (though they honestly had me at tofu pudding). The durian mochi was ordered separately but pretty worth it if it's your kind of thing. 📍 James on Hastings | Vancouver, BC Got to try some vegan and vegetarian dishes at James lately and the food was surprisingly good! I didn’t miss the meat at all (I was a carb-nivore most of my life lol so it’s saying a lot lol). My favourite items were: • The ginger and Chinese broccoli fried rice, despite looking simple, was packed with flavor- I ate way too much of this lol 🤪 • Braised dry bean curd with enoki mushroom, this one was straight up delicious • Deep fried egg tofu with spicy garlic was quite tasty, and barely spicy (thankfully) • The eggplant in spicy sauce was full of flavor, and the artificial meat was so realistic I was suspicious lol, and also not too spicy All in all an excellent choice for vegans and vegetarians looking for good food. 📍 Gweilo's Chili Oil | Vancouver, BC Shallot & Garlic Chili Lil Garlic Peanut Chili Oil - ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʟʟ - The verdict? @gweilosca makes super fragrant chili oil you absolutely need to try of you’re a chili oil person!! I’m so glad I made it in time for the limited drop- only 50 jars are available every month. 📍 Noodles to Go | New Westminster, BC - ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʟʟ - Located inside Starlight Casino, this hidden gem might be one of best spots in not just Queensborough, even New West if you're looking for a place with a variety of different Asian foods. I feel the Hong Kong style dishes were where they really shined. The beef chow fun, laksa, and fried rice were all really well executed and could easily compete with Richmond spots and I’ve to plenty). My favorite of the night though, was a more Taiwanese inspired dish, the deep-fried tofu; seasoned kind of like stinky tofu but without the stink, just ultra crispy and flavorful. 📍 Kosoo | Vancouver, BC - ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʟʟ - Long overdue visit & post 🫣 Haven’t been to Kosoo in forever and I’m very glad I came back. As per the title, the Yangnyeom chicken was fabulous. Batter not too thick, chicken juicy and most of all, a really, really tasty sauce. The Cheeseling chicken was good too though I wouldn’t get it with the yogurt dip next time. The seafood pot with octopus was also delish! Great portion to share. 📍 Desi Rasoi | Vancouver, BC - ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʟʟ - This is officially one of my favorite vegetarian spots in Vancouver!! Lots of good dishes and reasonable pricing. First, the Chaat Fries were soooo bomb- crispy, and topped perfectly with delicious fusion Indian flavours, and just super addictive overall. The paneer burger was just as good too, really hearty with the tender paneer. ♥️ And I loved the Paneer Tacos too, again just really tasty (yeah I love paneer LOL). The other dishes were decent too but definitely overshadowed by those first three dishes. I would come back for takeout for sure! 📍 Dragon Bowl | Burnaby, BC - ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʟʟ - Checked out Dragon Bowl’s new Burnaby location, great to see how fast these guys have grown, I still remember visiting their first spot in New West. This time I tried two bowls: a build-your-own with lamb, dragon sauce, and noodles (since they didn’t have noodles last time!), and their *new specialty beef brisket bowl*. Both were tasty! Heads up—the lamb has a strong taste if you’re particular about that. The brisket was solid, and the side dishes were refreshing. Also enjoyed my mango green tea.
