📍THEECA, Darlinghurst 🥞🍽
@theeca_darlinghurst

☆ Buttermilk pancake, sweet ($21) 🥞🫐
Theeca's buttermilk pancake is quite literally the star of the menu. When I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE had this pancake on their table, specifically the sweet version (you can get the pancake in savoury too) so if I didn't order this I would get fomo 😭. The pancake was so fluffy ☁️ and the creme fraiche on top was light ☺️ and paired perfectly with the blackberry compote! Though, the pancake was quite sweet from swimming a pool of maple syrup 🤣 but those who have a massive sweet tooth will LOVE this 🤤. This delightful meal was also such a big boy I had my one-billionth food baby after eating🤰
Rating ⭐️: 8.5/10

☆ Meatball sando ($18.50) 🥪🍅
This meatball sandwich is a combination of housemade meatball, rocket, parsley, chilli oil and parmigiano reggiano 🧀 placed deliciously between two crusty sourdough slices 🍞🥖. I thought the bread was a bit too crusty for my liking coz it scraped the roof of my mouth but the flavour is definitely there! The sando comes with chilli oil 🌶 and it was not spicy, even for those with low-tolerance spice levels.
Rating ⭐️: 7.5/10

Waiting time: 30 minutes

Overall rating 🌟: 8/10
So yummy, the outdoor vibe is so nice–Theeca should be a place on your bucketlist, and I'll definitely be back to try more! 😋

📍The Naked Baker, Mortdale
@thenakedbaker.au

I was so excited to put the $100 voucher I won in their giveaway to use, and it did not disappoint!! We came around 2pm, and the cafe was closing in an hour so we got to work 💪😎

- Melon Mint 🍉🍎 $9
Watermelon, apple, and mint in a drink and was nice and refreshing 8/10

- Orange Squeezy 🍊$9
Orange juice, and was also nice and refreshing 8/10

- Blueberry Matcha 🫐🍵 $10
Impressed by the first sip but then it got worse from there. Matcha was so bitter and the blueberry wasn’t helping and it was quite hard to drink coz of that soggy paper straw. I would NOT recommend getting this drink, I am bigback and usually eat whatever but I could only finish half of this drink it was that bad sorry :( 3/10

- Chorizo & Potato Hash 🥔🍅 $28
Not on menu anymore unfortunately. Very heavy dish coz of oil from chorizo and lots of carbs from the potatos but I enjoyed this dish and definitely felt the cholesterol in my bloodstream after finishing it yumyum😀YOLO Potatoes were extraextra crispy and I loved the poached egg 8/10

- Ottoman Eggs 🍳🍅🍆 $30
Combination of braised lamb & eggplant, tomato & oregano ragout, poached eggs, tahini yoghurt, and comes with 2 slices of sesame house foccacia. Very well balanced dish with some good protein and wasn’t too heavy with the oils. Also the focaccia is AMAZING wowow I need to buy a loaf next time I come back 9/10

- Sticky Date Pancakes 🥞 $26
DAMN WTF DO THEY PUT IN THESE PANCAKES BECAUSE THEY ARE SO FIRE??! Wow. Wow. Wow. Not even words can express how I felt when I took my first bite. You just have to go there and try it for yourself because that salted butterscotch sauce is dangerous and paired with that light mascarpone cream with the ricotta pancakes- OOFT 20/10

- Chorizo & Egg Danish 🍳🥐
Originally ordered a plain croissant $6 but since we came so late all their pastries sold out, but we got a free upgrade with this danish. Quite delicious and flaky, thoroughly enjoyed that. 7.5/10

📍Bar Biscotti, North Strathfield
@barbiscotti

☆ Strawberry Matcha ($10) 🍓🍵
This was my first time trying a strawberry matcha drink, and with the craze and price, I had high expectations. The strawberry matcha was thicker than I had imagined like a smoothie consistency. Also, I couldn't taste the matcha and there was SO MUCH foam and ice, I swear a third of the drink was just foam and the rest was ice 😭. And because of the foam and the consistency, I couldn't sip the drink and the paper straw was falling apart by the end. Though, the aesthetics does the drink justice. Least to say, I was disappointed with the strawberry matcha.

☆ Aunty's Schnitz Sando ($18) 🐣🥪
Initially, the chicken was STILL clucking–pink and definitely raw so I had to ask for a new sandwich 🥪🥲. Gordon Ramsey would probably say that's an idiot sandwich 🤣. Besides that, the sando was tasty and is a nice lunch to have 😋, and you can never go wrong with chicken schnitzel (besides it being raw) 🙊.
Rating ⭐️: 7/10

☆ Potatoes & Eggs ($24) 🥔🍳🥖
In this economy, 3 potatoes 🥔🥔🥔, 2 eggs 🍳🍳, and half a flatbread are now worth $24 🤨. This dish tastes like how I expected it to be: potatoes, eggs smothered in oil and seasoning with bread on the side–I sort of wished there was more to it like more bread or an extra component. I got sick of eating the potatoes nearing the end because there was a pool of oil at the bottom of the container. Though, with potatoes and bread being carbs it was definitely very filling.
Rating ⭐️: 6/10

Overall rating 🌟: 5.7/10
Despite my first experience with Bar Biscotti being a little bit better than mid, I would come back to try the baked goods because they do look really flaky and yum. 🥐🍰🥧

📍The Charles Brasserie & Bar, Sydney CBD
@thecharles.sydney

As we were taken to our table, we were immediately shrouded in the warm, romantic ambience of the room. Whilst the seating wasn’t the most spacious, the decor of the restaurant was stunning. The wait staff were so lovely and attentive!

☆ Bottled Water ($14) 🤠💔
We definitely got played with the bottled water and I’m still recovering 😔
Rating ⭐️: -1/10 for the price

☆ House Foccacia ($7 each) 🥖
I didn’t know we ordered two rocks but once the knife could finally get past the crust, the inside was slightly soft and the cultured butter was the highlight – smooth and salty.
Rating ⭐️: 6/10

☆ Aged Wagyu Cheeseburger ($29) 🍔🍟
Really solid burger. The wagyu was juicy and paired well with the pickles 🥒. The bun was burnt, but the fries made up for it 🤤.
Rating ⭐️: 9/10

☆ Ranger’s Valley Flat Iron 280g ($58) 🐄
One of the standout dishes of the night. The steak came out nicely medium rare. The umami sauce was rich without overpowering the cow, and tied the whole dish together. Just wished there was more for the price.
Rating ⭐️: 8/10

☆ Crab & ‘Nduja Lumache ($30) 🦀🌶️🍝
Spicy and sweet, with pieces of crab mixed through. Nice flavour overall, but I did get some shell which threw it off a bit.
Rating ⭐️: 7.5/10

☆ Italian Sausage Linguine ($30) 🍳🍝
Too oily for me, but the sausage was seasoned well. The almonds added a nice crunch, and the egg yolk on top made it creamy, but just a bit heavy. Though, my friends enjoyed this pasta more.
Rating ⭐️: 7/10

☆ Russian Honey Cake ($20) 🍯🍰🤤
We couldn’t end the dinner without getting dessert from the magnificent dessert trolley, so this Russian honey cake was a must. I’m not a cake person but the buttercream tasted like pure butter 🧈 and the honey flavour was prominent. OH MY GOD SO FRICKING phenomenal, I would come back to The Charles solely for the cake 🥹🎂
Rating ⭐️: 100/10

Overall rating 🌟: 7.9/10
Bring your friends, family, date – bring your wallet, and get that cake!!! 😝

📍1912 Dumpling Bar 小籠館, Emerald Square, Burwood
@1912dumplingbar

imo: 1912 >>> 1915 and 1919
I’ll defs be a regular here 😹🥢

- Spicy Dandan Noodle 🥜 $17
First time trying dandan noodles! Loved the creamy, nutty and spicy combination with the minced beef - very satisfying to eat, but I preferred the braised beef noodles more 🍜 8.5/10

- Braised Beef Noodle Soup 🍜 $18
The ultimate comfort food!! The braised beef was so tender, the noodles were nice and chewy, and the soup was not too oily compared to other places. I also liked the numbing sensation of the peppercorns 😆 9/10

- Pan-fried Beef Dumplings 🥟 $15
Super juicy dumplings - the juice started coming out right as I picked one up, but just wished they were more crispy on the bottom. And also they were too sweet and had a bad filling to pastry ratio. Though they are as big as my hand which is a plus ✅ 6/10

📍Satang Infinity, World Square
@satanginfinitysydney

This restaurant has to be my new favourite Thai spot in Sydney! They have an extensive menu (we took 20 minutes to decide our dishes), and awesome live music with acoustic guitar which gave the restaurant a very local feel!

First up, we got the Grilled Beef Rump ($22.90). The dipping sauce was so flavourful, kinda like crying tiger sauce - a bit spicy sour and sweet, and paired with the steak extremely well!

We moved on to the Tom Yum Fried Rice ($19.90) with prawns, and honestly, this was probably my favourite out of everything we ordered. The rice had a strong tom yum flavour, which I loved, and it came with a generous amount of plump, tender prawns. Every bite was like a flavour bomb going off in my mouth.

The Pad Kee Mow with beef ($22.90) was also a standout dish, and came out PIPING hot with the smoky wok hey. Like do you see that smoke? The sauce and noodles together were so addictive, and the beef was also incredibly tender. And of course this dish was spicy as but in a good way.

For the Duck Salad ($24.90), we went with the minced duck on the waitress’s recommendation. You wrap it in lettuce yourself, which tasted super fresh with strong spices. The duck salad was clearly the spiciest dish of the night - almost choked on a chilli, but for this salad it was so worth it.

The Moo Tod Katiam ($22.90), which is their crispy pork dish, was iNSANELY crispy, chewy, peppery, and garlicy. It was definitely one heck of a bold flavour punch.

I don’t know how we devoured EVERYTHING because the portions are MASSIVE, but it’s just that delicious we didn’t leave any crumbs!!

I highly recommend Satang Infinity (seconded by my friends) if you’re into bold, punchy Thai food and a fun, lively feed with friends or family.

📍Location:
Hordern Towers, Shop 15/91 Liverpool St, Sydney NSW 2000 - Inside World Square

📍Pho Viet Xua 1919, Marrickville
@phovietxua1919

If you’re wondering where to get the best value for your money, this Northern Vietnamese restaurant is a must-visit.

The Iced Lemon Tea ($6) was very refreshing and not too sweet, and the Iced Custard Apple Tea ($8) was sweet, creamy, and truly unique.

The Bun Cha with Vietnamese Grilled Pork and Vermicelli ($15) was my favourite dish. The pork was juicy with a nice char, and when combined with fresh herbs and fish sauce, it tasted incredibly fresh and full of umami. HAHAHAH I accidentally dipped my noodles in the soup for the chicken - don’t make that mistake!

I also enjoyed the Beef Combination Pho ($23). It included both stir-fried beef and brisket, and it tasted authentic. The broth was rich and comforting, the brisket was tender, and the stir-fried beef had a smoky wok flavour. The bowl was humongous, yet we managed to finish it.

The Crispy Chicken with Rice ($22) was very excellent as well. The chicken skin was wonderfully crispy, the meat was juicy, and the dipping sauce tied everything together perfectly.

Come to Pho Viet Xua 1919 if you want a comforting, delightful meal!!

☆ Halloumi Fries ($17) 🧀🍟
These halloumi fries were the perfect entree! And I’m not exaggerating when I say this, but the minty yoghurt sauce was incredibly delicious 😋

☆ Mixed Seafood Squid Ink Pasta ($35) 🦑🍝
The star of the night! Uliveto is doing a seafood special so we had to get the mixed seafood squid ink pasta. It has generous amounts of mussels, prawns, scallops and had just incredible flavour overall!

☆ Salmon Scallops’ Risotto ($35) 🐟🍝
This risotto had salmon and scallops in every bite. The risotto was creamy and a little smoky from the prosciutto, and just so well seasoned.

☆ Tiramisu ($15) ☕️🍰🍓
Fluffy, rich and a perfect ending to a perfect meal 😌

Overall rating 🌟: 10/10
Wait, did I mention that Uliveto is also pet-friendly? Bring your furry friends along for the best dinner! If you want massive portions, amazing seafood – Uliveto is a must-visit.
