🏷️ SAVE this hidden gem sushi spot in Oakland 🍣🫶🏼✨ @delageoakland recently entered a new chapter as founder Chikara Yamada prepares to spend more time in Japan. Originally opened in 2016, this Old Oakland gem is now led by Chef Kyle Itani (the team behind Yonsei Handrolls, Itani Sushi, and Itani Ramen) and Chef Jeremias Jimenez with techniques rooted in edomae tradition. Starting September 16, they introduced a new menu with à la carte sushi, an 8-course omakase for $140pp, lunch service, cocktails, and takeout. They source their high-quality fish from Toyosu Market in Japan. We tried their omakase which included 2 appetizers, 9 pieces of nigiri, 2 mini dons, 1 handroll, and a dessert. We also added the supplemental add-on of 2 bluefin tuna nigiri, which was so worth it and we definitely left full. The chilled corn dashi appetizer was one of my favorites of the night 💛 Definitely would come back to try more of their new menu! refreshed & recharged after a staycation at @staytreehousesiliconvalley 🌳🦥⛱️ I found the cutest little escape that feels like stepping into your own cozy treehouse 🥹🌿 From the adorable on-theme rooms to all the little details around the property, this place is so cute and makes you feel like you’re on a mini vacation the second you check-in at the glasshouse. You honestly don’t even have to leave the property since there’s Valley Goat, their amazing onsite restaurant, plus a backyard café for brunch, and spacious beer garden for casual bites! There’s also a pool + hot tub for lounging, tons of outdoor spaces to hang out, and a 24/7 gym. 🏷️ SAVE this NEW handroll spot in SF 🍣🪭✨ @kaiyohandrollbar just opened recently and it’s the West Coast’s first Nikkei handroll bar, bringing together Japanese techniques with bold Peruvian flavors and ingredients 🇯🇵🇵🇪 There are 18 handrolls to choose from, ranging from classics like uni toro + yellowtail to more unique options like Nikkei-style lomo saltado with A5 wagyu + shoestring potatoes and roasted duck. We also tried the scallop mentaiko udon and matcha fettuccine - both were creative and fun dishes, though I found the flavors a bit more subtle than I expected. But don’t skip dessert! 🏷️ SAVE this spot for your next special occasion 🥂✨ @alexanderssteakhousesv in Cupertino recently reopened after a remodel and I’m obsessed with their new red butterfly room ❤️ so moody, romantic, and intimate - such a pretty spot for a date night, anniversary, birthday, or any special occasion! We were here celebrating my mom’s birthday, and since it was her first time dining here, we went with their omakase menu - 7 courses for $198pp. It was a great way to try a little bit of everything, from their steaks to seafood, and every course was so thoughtfully done. We ended with the most delicious ube tiramisu, a special birthday surprise cupcake, and of course their complimentary cotton candy ☁️ Such a fun spot for a special celebration, especially if you want the food + ambiance to feel like an experience, they have the best service. Located right across from Oracle Park, the space is huge with floor-to-ceiling windows, indoor + outdoor seating, cozy lounge areas, fire pits right by the water, and even a coworking space 🛋️ The menu is inspired by Chef Halverson’s mom, who remains his greatest culinary influence after years of classical training. Sergeant Ma brings together Northern California’s seasonal ingredients, San Francisco’s creative spirit, and Asian traditions in such a fun and thoughtful way. My favorites were definitely the local halibut + uni crudo and the duck pâté & liver mousse with the warm pineapple bun + spicy mustard. The sweet, savory, rich combo with the fluffy pineapple bun was so good 🤌🏼 Definitely check this spot out if you’re in the city! Led by Bay Area native Executive Chef Nico Russell, who has an impressive Michelin background, the menu is ever-changing and driven by fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients from the neighboring Santa Cruz Mountains farms. Some of my favorites from the night were the agnolotti verde, tuna brioche, smoked wolfe ranch quail “milanese,” and their signature caviar chicken nugget ✨ Every dish was incredibly creative and thoughtfully executed, with such fun combinations of flavors and textures.
