Celebrating Briana Harper and her incredible achievement! 🌟

Briana, a junior Accounting major (Class of 2028), has been awarded the 2026–2027 PCAOB Scholarship Award, which is a prestigious $15,000 scholarship supporting her path toward becoming a Future CPA.

She shared, “I’m incredibly honored and grateful to receive the 2026-2027 PCAOB Scholarship Award. As an incoming third-year accounting student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a member of the Class of 2028, this scholarship will help me continue my education, pursue graduate school, and work toward my goal of becoming a CPA. I’m so thankful to Professor Suneel Maheshwari and the ACIS Department for their support and encouragement. This opportunity means a lot to me, and I’m excited for what’s ahead!”

The 40th Annual Pennsylvania Economic Association Conference brought its largest turnout ever, with nearly 100 research presentations from scholars across 18 states and four countries.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania professors of economics Jim Jozefowicz and Stephanie Jozefowicz, members of the IUP Department of Finance and Economics, hosted the 40th Annual Pennsylvania Economic Association Conference at IUP on May 28–30.

Keynote speaker David Reed, First Commonwealth executive and former PA House Majority Leader, delivered powerful insights on the intersection of business, policy, and economics.

Reed, a member of the first graduating class of the IUP Cook Honors College, is a 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and was named to the IUP Eberly College of Business Hall of Distinction in 2022!

“The Economics Department at IUP provided me with the foundation for my career in public service and the private sector,” Reed said. “It was an honor to be able to come back to campus and talk about my experiences with some of the finest economists in Pennsylvania, as well as some emerging leaders within IUP’s undergraduate and graduate programs. The group really has an opportunity to use their talents and knowledge to positively impact our economy and our nation in the years ahead.”

Its 127 registrants included nine IUP undergraduates and May 2026 graduates, six IUP graduate students, four IUP alumni, and an IUP emeritus faculty member, Will Radell.

Altogether, almost 100 academic papers were presented during the sessions from both academic and non-academic economists as well as undergraduate and graduate students from 18 states and four countries outside the United States.

For the first time, the newly created PEA Keystone Fellow award was presented to Dr. Jim Jozefowicz and Dr. Stephanie (Brewer) Jozefowicz as co-recipients🥳
