Over 283 bird species have been recorded on Barbados, an island of just 166 square miles. 🐦

We sit 100 miles east of the main Caribbean chain, which makes Barbados the easternmost gateway of the Atlantic Flyway.

For thousands of migratory shorebirds flying south from North America, this is the first land after days over open ocean. They stop here to rest and feed before carrying on to South America.

During the North American winter, sandpipers, plovers, herons and egrets work the island's wetlands and mudflats. 🌿

Route 3 of 7: Hackleton's Cliff, where the central ridge falls away toward the east coast. 🚲

From up there you look down over layers of fields, gullies and villages, with the ocean stretching beyond.

The hills here are real. This is where a pedal-assist eBike earns its keep: you still pedal, and the motor takes the sting out of the steep parts.

The other six routes run from the Atlantic coast to the streets of Bridgetown, some by eBike, some on foot with a local guide. Island-wide pickup from hotels, villas and the cruise terminal is part of the day. 🌿

Cane fields, Hackleton's Cliff and a church from 1640: a date beyond the beach chair. 🚲

The ride starts at St John's Parish Church, a Gothic-style church from 1640 with panoramic views of the East Coast. From there you follow the Hackleton's Cliff escarpment, ride through PEG Farm, then roll along casuarina-lined trails and quiet country back roads. 🌿

Couples: each of you picks your own assist, from Eco to Turbo, so you ride side by side at one pace.
Families: riders are 13 and up and at least 5 ft (152 cm) tall.
First-timers: we start with fitting, instructions and practice laps. Pedal assist only, no throttle.
Active seniors: a scenic pace, a lead guide and a sweep guide, plus vehicle support.

The ride is about 2 hours on the bike with a maximum of 10 guests, USD 140 per person, hotel pickup included in supported areas. 🌿

Haven't been on a bike in years? Good. That's exactly who this ride is for. 🚲

Our eBikes are pedal-assist. You still pedal, steer and brake like on any bike, and the motor adds power each time you pedal. Stop pedalling and the assist stops too.

You choose the assist level, so the climbs stay steady. The highest point of the ride sits at 1,091 ft, and you get there ready to enjoy the view. 🌿

Every ride starts with a short instruction and safety brief, and your guide stays with you the whole way.

Before anyone pedals, we fit your helmet and set your saddle. 🚲

Your helmet sits level and low across your forehead, chin strap snug. Your saddle goes to the height that leaves a slight bend in your knee at the bottom of each stroke.

Then your guide walks you through the controls: which brake works which wheel, how to change assist levels, how to switch the bike off. You start in low assist on a flat, open stretch. Barbados drives on the left, so you follow your guide's line at every junction. 🛣️

Premium eBikes and helmets are provided, and your guide stays with you the whole ride. 💚

Plenty of riders in their 60s, 70s and beyond pedal around Barbados. Age alone doesn't decide if an eBike tour suits you. 🚲

What matters is comfort on a bike, balance, mobility and the route. You still pedal, steer and brake. The motor adds power as you pedal, so a hill turns into a view instead of a test.

Start on a low assist setting and add more on the climbs. Your guide runs a safety brief first and rides with you the whole way, at a pace the group can share. 🌿

Bridgetown is a UNESCO World Heritage site 🏛️ and our Historic Bridgetown Walking Tour spends three hours inside it on foot. Cheapside Market. The Birthplace of Rum. St. Mary's Church. And the vibrant past of the island's Jewish community, told properly rather than in passing.
