I still can’t believe that little girl on the last slide was bullied and called awful names because of her skin colour, from kindergarten all the way through university. At one point, the pain became so unbearable that she actually bought bleaching cream because she was exhausted by the constant insults and just wanted it to stop. But God was so good — her skin was like kpomo, tough and resilient, and the cream Simply didn’t work on her.

Looking back now, that was nothing short of a blessing, because she would have absolutely hated the result. Funny enough, the person who took the body cream from her is the one it ended up working on instead! But look at her now, she owns her skin, she stands out beautifully because of it, and she wouldn’t change a thing.

This is a reminder to all of us, both online and offline, to be intentional about the words we use. What feels like a harmless joke or a cheap laugh to you could be quietly destroying someone on the inside. Words have weight. Words leave marks. Words can push someone to the point of trying to change something as natural and beautiful as the skin they were born in. Let’s do better. Let’s choose kindness every single time.

It’s my birthday! Today, I’m overflowing with gratitude, for the joy that bubbles over, for the battles God fought without even consulting me first (because He knew I would panic), and for the miracles He’s still cooking in the background. ‘Be strong and courageous... for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’ — Joshua 1:9.

Honestly, looking back, half the time I didn’t even know what I was doing, yet somehow God preserved me, provided for me, and protected my clumsy steps! ‘The Lord bless me and keep me; the Lord make His face shine on me’ — Numbers 6:24-25.

Here’s to a new year of peace, louder laughter, sudden testimonies, soft life, and looking this fine without stress! If this is how God does His work, please, He should continue.
