And sometimes, what becomes possible for another person.
A word can open our attention.

We don’t just learn words. We inherit them, long before we understand their formal meaning, along with the eyes of the adults who taught them to us.

And I’m beginning to wonder if we inherit ways of asking questions too.

Because often, the hardest inheritance to put down is not the word.

I came across this video posted by @diaryofanaijagirl and I have not been able to stop thinking about it.

And somehow, the answer to every parent who has ever looked at their non-verbal child and wondered,
why can’t they just tell me what they need?
