Recently, EBPCO’s Brenna Hansen (Workshops Coordinator) and Aya Daterra (Summer Intern) led a hands-on Cyanotype Printing activation at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts as part of the 2026 Creative Youth Celebration.

Cyanotype is a historical printing process that uses a light sensitive emulsion, sunlight, and water to produce a blue photographic print. We had a wonderful time experimenting with this dynamic process and helping folks make their own cyanotype photogram!

The Creative Youth Celebration (CYC) is a free, public exhibition and performance event spotlighting the next generation of Bay Area creatives, and is the biggest art celebration of high school students in the Bay Area!

Learn more about CYC at @creativeyouthawards or by visiting creativeyouthawards.org

Please join us in welcoming our Summer Intern, Aya Daterra, to the East Bay Photo Collective Team! Aya was born and raised in the Bay Area and is currently Fine Arts student at Bryn Mawr College. She is bringing over four years of analog photography experience, a passion for education, and her experience as Teaching Assistant in the Photo Department at Haverford College to our community.

This summer, she’s supporting our darkroom, workshops, and gallery programs, while continuing to build her career as an artist and educator. She’s already made a big impact for us since starting at the beginning of June, and we’re so grateful to have her with us until August. If you see her around, be sure to say, “hello!” and thank her for all of her hard work.
