Before their graduation, the cadets heard from Detective Samantha Fleming of the New Jersey State Police Polygraph Unit and Trooper Rob Shalikar of the New Jersey State Police Drug & Weapon Trafficking Unit.

Day 4 of the East Brunswick Police Department Junior Police Academy is in the books!

The cadets heard from former EBPD Junior Police Academy cadet Anthony Smyth (Class 17), who returned to share the history of the East Brunswick Police Department.

The remainder of the day featured K-9 demonstrations from agencies across New Jersey, including the Old Bridge Police Department and the New Jersey Department of Corrections. The cadets also heard from Special Agents of the U.S. Diplomatic Security Service.

It was another exciting and informative day for our cadets! Here are some photos from Day 4.

Tomorrow marks the end of an era at Stefano’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria as Steve officially steps into retirement and passes the torch to a new owner.

For many years, Steve has been a tremendous supporter of the East Brunswick Police Department and our officers. His generosity, friendship, and unwavering support of our department and the East Brunswick community have meant a great deal to us, and we are truly grateful.

Steve, thank you for all you have done for our officers and for our community over the years. We wish you a very happy and well-deserved retirement! We hope this next chapter brings you plenty of time to relax, enjoy life, and spend time with family and friends.

Day 3 of the East Brunswick Police Department Junior Police Academy is in the books!

Today, the cadets heard from members of the New Jersey State Police HAZMAT Unit and Patrolman Stewart of the East Brunswick Police Department’s SWAT Team. Patrolman Lem of the Traffic Safety Section also spoke with the cadets about the dangers of driving while intoxicated (DWI) and the importance of traffic safety.

Day 2 of the East Brunswick Police Department Junior Police Academy is in the books!

The cadets heard from Mayor Brad Cohen before visiting the New Jersey State Police Museum, where they learned about the history of the New Jersey State Police. They also visited the NJSP Aviation Bureau and heard from members of the unit about their important work.

Before wrapping up the day, Patrolman Michael Stewart led the cadets through drill instruction and physical training.

Day 1 of the East Brunswick Police Department Junior Police Academy is in the books!

Today, our cadets heard from Patrolman Michael Stewart of the East Brunswick Police Department, Detective Grascia of the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, and Detective Lyons of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Response Unit.

The cadets also successfully completed their physical fitness assessment, which included push-ups, sit-ups, and a one-mile run.

Yesterday members stood by during the storm with one of @ebpdnj High Water Rescues. If a call comes in for a water rescue in a flooded area, members from the FD that are trained in water rescue will ride in the high water truck driven by police officers. Along with the high water truck, our boats were also ready to go. Luckily there were no water calls during the storms yesterday but we did run a gas leak and and a fire alarm. by @ebpdnj

****East Brunswick Police Investigating Drowning at Dallenbach Lake****

The East Brunswick Police Department is investigating the drowning of a 59-year-old man that occurred at Dallenbach Lake.

On July 15, 2026, at approximately 3:34 PM, the East Brunswick Police Department received a report of a man who had been swimming in Dallenbach Lake (380 Dunhams Corner Road) and had gone underwater without resurfacing.

A large-scale emergency response was immediately initiated. The following agencies responded to assist in the search and rescue effort:
- East Brunswick Police Department
- East Brunswick Office of Emergency Management (OEM)
- East Brunswick Fire Department (all three fire districts)
- Perth Amboy Police and Fire Dive Team
- New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit
- New Jersey State Police Marine Unit
- RWJBarnabas Health Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS)

After an extensive search of the lake, members of the Perth Amboy Fire Department Dive Team located the man and removed him from the water. RWJBarnabas Health BLS and ALS personnel immediately initiated lifesaving measures and transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The identity of the individual is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. No further identifying information will be released at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by the East Brunswick Police Department Investigative Division. At this time, there is no indication of foul play.

The East Brunswick Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that may assist investigators to contact the East Brunswick Police Department Investigative Division at 732-390-6990. Individuals may also submit anonymous information through the Department's Confidential Tip Line at 732-4EBTIPS.

Chief Frank LoSacco commended the efforts of everyone involved in the response.

🐾 LOST DOG – PLEASE SHARE 🐾

A dog has been found in the area of River Road near Buck Road.

If you are the owner, please contact the East Brunswick Police Department at 732-390-6960 or 732-390-6900 for information on how to reclaim your pet.

The dog will be transported to the Woodbridge Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center (195 Woodbridge Avenue, Sewaren, NJ) for safekeeping.

Today, members of the East Brunswick Police Department were happy to join Council President Dana Zimbicki and Township staff in celebrating National Hot Dog Day at the Municipal Complex.

Thank you to East Brunswick Recreation & Parks for organizing another great community event. We always appreciate the opportunity to connect with our residents, share a few smiles, and enjoy a hot dog together.

During today’s severe storms, East Brunswick Police officers responded to numerous weather-related emergencies across the township, including flooded roadways and stranded motorists.

When conventional vehicles could no longer safely navigate the floodwaters, officers deployed the Department’s High Water Rescue Vehicle to reach those in need and safely bring them to higher ground.

We are grateful for the kind words and appreciation shared by members of our community. More importantly, we’re thankful that everyone involved made it home safely.

As a reminder, never drive through flooded roadways. It only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep a vehicle away, and conditions beneath the surface are often impossible to see.

Thank you to all of our first responders, public works crews, and emergency personnel who worked throughout the storm to keep our community safe. by @ebpdnj
