BOOK REVIEW: The Cruise by @naima_brown_official

The Squad. A sisterhood of friends. Mess with one, face them all. I loved this book. It made me squirm and rejoice, angry and proud.

Do you have ride-or-die sisters for life who'd do anything for you? Tag them below.

QUICK BOOK REVIEW: The Cursed Road by @lauramccluskey__

Scottish Highlands. Two feuding families. Mysterious disappearances. Need I say more? Bravo Laura. A great sequel to The Wolf Tree and a strong standalone crime fiction.

Second round of edits on THE CONFESSION are done! 🥳 A few light corrections, one scene fleshed out a little more, and I'm almost ready for the copy edit, thanks to the eagle eye of my amazing editor @zozie_walton 🔎 ❤️

I'm just going to give it a final once-over using Word's READ ALOUD function to see how the story sounds before I send it back. It sometimes catches things my eyes miss. Does anyone else use this function? 🤔

Becoming a writer has changed how I read books. 🤓📚🤔

How has your experience of reading changed over time? Anything you've taken for granted?

Readers, tell me: how do you organise your books? 📚🤔

1. Alphabetically
2. By colour
3. By genre
4. TBR vs read
5. No system whatsoever

It's number 1 for me because I can easily locate a book. Drop your number below and tell me why.

BOOK REVIEW IN 60 SECONDS: The Cairo Bridal Shop by @tesswoods_author

As an Australian born to Egyptian parents, this book was the trip down memory lane I didn't know I needed. My first hair removal experience as a teen was with the homemade caramel wax my aunty made, a traditional method I'd forgotten about until I read page five. That's how early in the book memories were rushing back. The references to food made my mouth water. Molokheya, belila, warah enab - meals I always request when I visit my mum. 😋

But I digress. 😂

This is the story of three sisters, Aya, Lola and Sarah. Sarah runs the bridal dress shop at the foot of the pyramids, keeping her mother's legacy alive. After finding out about her husband's infidelity, she makes another discovery - she has finally fallen pregnant. Now she has to extricate herself from a marriage she no longer wants before he finds out.

Aya is a political journalist who falls in love with Australian-raised journalist Gamal. When Gamal is jailed on suspicion of treason, it's up to Aya to secure his freedom before he's executed.

Then there's Lola, a fesity university student, who finds herself in a forbidden relationship. When her secret is exposed, her life is at risk.

Three sisters facing different threats.

If you love travelling to exotic destinations when you read, this one will definitely transport you.

OMG! When your Adelaide besties ask the fabulous @hollygoeslightly how they can support you (me!) through the book editing process and she gives this beautiful answer. 🥹🥹❤️ Can't wait to line up my mineral water and spinach at the bar while they do shots! 😂😂🥰

Thanks for asking the question @natasha.wojcik, thanks for filming it @lisa_woolford_tv and thanks @hollygoeslightly for your generosity. 🙏

This happened last night at Holly's Adelaide book launch of The World Beneath Her Feet. I saw Holly at her Noosa book launch recently. One of the best author talks I've been to. Entertaining, heartfelt and inspiring.
