Y’all ready for a dose of melanin magic with a twist? ✨ I’m launching my new blog, Crowns and Canvas, where we dive deep into everything that makes me who I am: fun fashion, Black history/culture, a lil travel, lots of creativity with a sprinkle sprinkle of vulnerability in hopes that people who share the same interests can find a safe space to land 💕

My first post tackles a topic close to my heart: “Black Girl Not So Magic: How Therapy Saved My Life.” In this post, I open up about revelations I had in my first therapy session that led to my perfectionism diagnosis 🫣

*currently living a dream I didn't know I had*

Once I got tenure, I thought I would put my feet up and chill because I earned it. Who would have thought I would be asked to serve as the Chair of the Theatre and Dance Dept here at AP!?!

It has been 54 days since I started. There have been thousands of questions, hundreds of emails, many, many meetings, loads of help from students+ colleagues, lots of laughs, lots of growth, some doubts, a little faith...and somehow its all working.

Cheers to my next 4 years. Send me smoothies and prayers. ✨🙏

I am back in a creative process for the Brave New Works Lab 2026 at @ozartsnashville and this time I’m bringing friends! Dancers @official_justintinker @zxshaniya_ and @amaya_.marie with singer @onealblackmusic and my trusted pianist @lexbrolezal and dramaturg/documentarian @margaret_eliza

I don’t have a title yet but this project centers my research of the Black Radical Imagination(as embodied process) Sankofa and speculative futures.

I don’t have much experience working in this way but I’m trusting the process and watching it all unfold has been deeply rich and satisfying.

Please Join us on May 14th - 16th @ 8pm! Tickets on sale now. Yay! by @ecainyoface

Meet the Dance Jurors 🩰 ARTSassist is the only unrestricted individual artist grant program in Shelby County, and these out-of-market jurors, recruited by our ARTSmemphis Artist Advisory Committee, ultimately determined our local grant recipients for this second round of funding. Help us thank them for their time, diligence, and appreciation for our local arts sector.
