🚴 On Saturday, the Tour de France starts from Barcelona for three weeks of racing, crossing the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, the Alps and reaching Paris after almost 3,500 km. But cycling across Europe is not only for champions: with EuroVelo, the European cycle route network managed by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF), you can travel by bicycle along 17 different routes, more than 90,000 km and 39 countries! 💛💙 🚴 Le Tour de France débute samedi de Barcelone pour trois semaines de course, par-delà les Pyrénées, le Massif Central, les Alpes et près de 3500 km jusqu’à Paris. 🌍 Can EuroVelo help combat climate change? 🚗❌ Sure, bicycles are much better for our environment than cars. Whether as a daily mode of transportation or for longer travels, including travelling in nature. However, even this needs to be done responsibly. Otherwise, we can do more harm than good. We are thrilled to announce that 𝗔𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗢𝗻𝗕𝗶𝗸𝗲 is a finalist for the 2026 REGIOSTARS Awards... and we need your help! REGIOSTARS are annual awards organised by DG REGIO to celebrate outstanding EU-funded projects driving regional development. Out of a record-breaking 274 applications, only 25 across five categories made it as finalists, including AtlanticOnBike, focused on EuroVelo 1 and funded by Interreg Atlantic Area! 🚵‍♂️What is AtlanticOnBike? Launched in 2017, the project aimed to create a cycling tourism offer revolving around EuroVelo 1 – Atlantic Coast Route, which stretches from Scandinavia to Portugal and Galicia. The end goal? Generate long-lasting impact on the local economy and establish the region as an attractive touristic destination in Europe. 🎯What did the project achieve? From marketing strategies and tourism products to cross-border cooperation, AtlanticOnBike kickstarted a whole ecosystem that continues to support jobs, generate new ones, develop attractions, contribute to low-carbon tourism, and increase visits from locals and tourists alike. In fact, 2020 figures showed that around 10.5 million cyclists had passed through the route per year, bringing in 198 million euros in economic benefits! 👉What’s next? 🏁 The Tour de France Femmes concludes in Nice with a nail-biting stage. If these fantastic sportswomen inspired you to try a cycling trip, look no further than the 17 EuroVelo routes! Explore more than 90,000 km of cycle routes all across Europe, many of which are recommended for beginners, too. From Nice, you can take EuroVelo 8 – Mediterranean Route, a 7,000-km journey from Andalucia in Spain to Cyprus, largely following the Mediterranean coast. 8️⃣ 🏁 Le Tour de France Femmes s'achève à Nice avec une étape haletante. Si ces fantastiques sportives vous ont donné envie de vous lancer dans un voyage à vélo, ne cherchez pas plus loin : les 17 itinéraires EuroVelo sont faits pour vous !
